Is there a way to configure Safari so that the bookmarks are visible on the left side continuously while browsing? Both Microsoft and Firefox have this. The bookmark bar on the top is not as useful, and when you "show all bookmarks" the web page is replaced by the links.

First, I hope you are speaking of Internet Explorer for Windows. There has been no new IE for Mac in about 4 years so don't use IE for Mac. It is even worse for security than IE for Windows. Although there are only a couple of viruses for Mac, there is a lot of spyware so use Firefox or Safari only and always turn on firewall in System Preferences > Sharing.

I have been a die-hard Apple fan for over ten years but I think they are stubbornly holding back in developing Safari. It seems as though they don't want to use the best features of other browsers. I would like more flexibility in Safari bookmarks, too. I have asked a couple of times in the Apple support discussions forum but none of the experts can get past the idea of "That's not how you do it." Well, that's how I WANT to do it so I use Firefox.

The closest you can get to this is to put all your bookmarks in the "Bookmarks Bar". Then choose View > Show Bookmarks Bar". That will put all your bookmarks (by name only) at the top of the window. Hmm... looks messy to me.

Another idea is tab browsing but I think it is little better than opening two windows. Don't make the mistake of choosing "Open in tabs" from the Bookmarks menu. That will open a separate tab for each of your bookmarks -- could anything be worse than that? To use tab browsing, follow the link below. And bookmark it, eh? : )

properly, i can not write with my left hand in any respect! yet I do an excellent style of issues with my left hand, curiously i'm left hand eye co-ordinated. Or properly, whichever is the alternative of what properly handers should be! I open doorways, carry bags and do maximum stuff with my left hand.

You have to go into tools and reconfigure it to make it do what you want. I don't know the exact steps but you can check

Look under support and they'll help.
