YES, all female dogs go through a menstrual period. They can start from 6 months and up depending on the breed. It's best to spay the pup right at 6 months and avoid the mess.

They DON'T have a period, they go into heat. This is the exact opposite of a human period. This is the time when they BECOME fertile!
The first HEAT comes generally when she is between 6 and 9 months of age. Most of my Shih Tzu (proper spelling) pups had their first heat around 8 months old. Then, they will come into heat around every 6 months after this. The more times that they come into heat, the more likely that they are to develop reproductive forms of cancer.

Dogs don't have periods it's actuall the opposite and it called estrus or heat. It is at this time that they can become pregnant.
Teh first heat can happen anytime between 6 mnth to 1 1/2 years ol then every 6 months.
If she is or when she is 5 months or older you can prevent this by havinng her spayed.
when a dog is in heat they will spot blood allover adn leave blood spots on the floor, furniture, bed etc.

All female dogs (all breeds) come into heat about twice a year. When in heat, they will bleed from the vagina. They usually have their first heat between six months to one year of age.
If you spay her, she won't go into heat, and won't bleed in youir house. Spaying also avoids several serious health problems, and avoids unwanted pregnancy. Make an appointment with your vet to have her spayed.

Are you young? Without a period (estus cycle) NOTHING CAN REPRODUCE. YOU NEED TO GET THIS DOG SPAYED IMMEDIATLY. YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BREEDING AND YOUR DOG CAN DIE BECAUSE OF THIS. IT'S NOT EXPENSIVE, IF YOU HAVE LIMITED MEANS. PEOPLE FOR ANIMALS AND MOST SHELTERS DO CHEAP SPAYS.
YOU NEED TO DO THIS BEFORE 6 MONTHS. FEMALES GO INTO HEAT (FOR THREE WEEKS, DURING WHICH THEY BLEED ALL OVER YOUR HOUSE) BETWEEN 7-10 MONTHS, EARLIER FOR SMALL DOGS.
