What would happen if I got off a plane in Saudi Arabia with a King James Bible in my hand?
What would happen if a Muslim got off a plane in New York City with a Koran in his hand?

Thanks for sharing that, Sarah, I think much of the paranoia, if you will, here has to do with 9 11. Before then, I never gave Muslims much thought.

You know your question reminds me of when I went to Saudi Arabia to visit my father who was working there (He's not saudi, he was sent there by his company to work on an oil/gas project) but anyhow, my passport says that I'm Jewish and that I was born in Tel Aviv....I was scared to death...but nobody even said a word to me...and you know what, the place was FULL like literally full of non-musims. my dad's place had a swimming pool, a nigh club, a pub! i was very surprised....but yeah!
I don't think it's the same for a Muslim who gets off a plane in NY...you usually get called for 'random checks'...plus the looks/stares you get lol. Never tried it but i'm sure its no that fun

If you got off a plan in NY city with a Koran in your hand you’ll be selected for random searching. Most likely, the airport security staff would let you go in the end, despite of the embarrassment. In New York & the United States Freedom of religion is respected not because of Christianity, but because it was founded in the age of enlightment.
Saudi Arabia is not Taliban. In fact, the Alqaeda regards Saudi Arabia as a Satanic Kingdom & a puppet state of the US. Still in Saudi Arabia, they don’t allow building churches, or preaching for Christianity. But a KJV bible is not a problem especially if you want to use it in private.
Overall, rules are different in different parts of the world. We should not tolerate every thing, but we have to tolerate many things if we want to live in good world.

If you land in New York sporting a beard (forget the Koran) and look anything but a flawless white, they will strip search you till they have tested and verified that your balls are actually balls and not bombs.
Saudi is as open as the US sans the strip searching and racial profiling !!
I am apalled at the answers that are far from the truth. These answers speak volumes in how aware a general US citizen is about something called "rest of the world"

In Saudi Arabia your Bible would be seized but in New York you could carry your quran around with you and preach it at street corners. In the West there is freedom of religion and in Saudi a Arabia there is only the freedom to be a strict Wahabist Sunni Muslim. Islamdom has a very bad modern record in the area of religious and personal freedoms and the treatment of minorities

Americans might want to stop thinking of Saudi Arabia as the big buddy with lots of oil and instead think of it as a corrupt monarchy that enforces human rights abuses.

The Saudis allow the bible, Ive seen foreigners use them in their houses.
However, the Saudis do not allow preaching of religion or missionary work.
This is how they rule their Wahhabi government.
Wahhabism is a form of cult that takes extremity its creed.
also, the answerer above me has hit the nail, they are very much corrupt in the sense that they have lost the gist of what it means to be Muslim. We Muslims are supposed to watch for human rights. Its one of the things God does not forgive.
