this is all the people that answered my daughters question about the pregnant dog--please refrain from calling people irresponsible when you dont know the situation. My daughter has been taking in animals and caring for strays since she could walk. She would risk her life--and has to save even the smallest creature. So I would very much appreciate you people out there railing on her or any one else who is just asking a question.--and by the way---we have so many dog lovers in my family that we would have no trouble finding homes for all of them.

I find it almost ironic that the website in which you seek answers to questions you don't know, is the website where people tell you off for asking o.O

I do appreciate answers,though.
I'd spend all the money in the world if it means my dogs comfort. I do not recall saying "I would like to know if my dog is pregnant, gosh I hope shes not because I don't want to spend money." I just want opinions, if I had known it would offend so many I would not have asked.
I have looked it up, like I said. Opinions. They tend to help at times.

If she is producing milk hten figure any time form now to about 2 weeks.
You should start taking her temp and if it goes below 99 degrees F then figure her delivering in 24-48 hours.
Start setting up a welping box for her to have the pups in and I would strongly advise to take her to teh vets for an exam to make sure there aren't any problems.
Good Luck
I would also suggest getting both dogs fixed he canbe done now and she can be done about 3 months after having pups

It is GREAT that you are such an irresponsibe owner. You should at least have a clue if she was in heat, if they bred, and WHEN.

Why don't you take it to the VET? Oh, right!!! That would be RESPONSIBLE and cost $$$$$! Wouldn't want to do that!!!

If your mother has "dealed with many pregnant animals", why doesn't she know what to look for?
Can't you even operate the "search" button on your computer? There are a LOT of good sites out there.

Rescuing dogs means MORE than taking them off the streets!!! It means getting them MEDICAL care and spay/neuter! Rescue just to have them turn into puppy machines is NOT rescue!! It is IRRESPONSIBLE!!!! If you cannot afford the proper care, turn them over to a REAL rescue!!!

Why do you have a male and female dog, both not fixed? Don't you think that is really stupid and irresponsible?

Update: Even if you can find homes for all the puppies, what about the ones that are being euthanized every single day, because irresponsible owners don't get their animals fixed? In the United States around 46,000 animals are killed each day. So yes, it is stupid and irresponsible to bring puppies into this world, when there are thousands of them sitting in pounds waiting to be rescued before they are killed.

yes the female is prboboly pregnanat. please spay her NOW. since your sister is probobly inexperienced she should spay the girl. It will prevet ovarian cancer in her dog. plus it helps dogs in shelters.

ADD: No if she's not that far along in her pregnancy than you can spay her. Spaying is one of the most important things you can ever do for a dog. It prevents all sorts of illnesses.
