I am a Christian mom. Both are difficult to hear but I love my daughter totally no matter what. She has already "come out" to me about being bi-sexual. I wasn't mad, but it took me a while to come to grips with it in terms of salvation. I was distressed at first because I thought she would not see salvation because of this. I did much studying and have figured out that the ACT is wrong, not the thoughts or desires. Just as the ACT of having sex outside of marriage is wrong... which is sort of how I got her in the first place so who am I to Judge? I finally figured out that homosexuality does not exclude one from salvation and it is much better.
If she were to tell me she was an atheist, it would be harder because that would exclude her from salvation. The salvation I believe is real. I would be so very sad because I want my daughter to be with me in paradise. I would never love her any less because of it though. She will always be my daughter and I will love her regardless of her choices.
P.S. I believe Gay is NOT a choice.... you are born that way, but Atheism is a Choice.

My mom didn't care when I told her I'm an atheist. I'm lucky I have tolerant parents and they didn't send me to jesus camp.

Tell mom you're a gay atheist.
And be sure to film it.
And post it on youtube.
And post a link to it here.
