Any one can guess; my own surname is found in more than 30 countries!
IF you want to know, ask all your living relatives infomation about themselves and their parents, grandparents, etc., go to a library and search and/or go online to obtain as much information as you can.
THEN do a DNA test; both www.familytreedna.com and the National Geographics Genotype websites http://plasma.nationalgeographic.com/mapmachine/ https://www3.nationalgeographic.com/genographic/atlas.htmlgive explanations of how the DNA research works and what you can expect.
Due to the custom of the female taking the male's surname upon marriage, surnames don't mean much when trying to find out your REAL ancestry. I know plenty of people with Hispanic surnames without a drop of Spanish blood!

Stop and think for just a moment-
your father would be the one with the name. MOM was born with a different name. Now, to the grandparents... dad's father has the name, but you have 3 other grandparents, each of whom have different surnames. Once you get to the next level, you have 8 gr grandparents, only ONE is named Camales.
So.. do you want to know about your ancestors? or just a label that belongs only to one branch of your tree?
I'd guess that Camales is a Hispanic name... but as a hard core genealogist.. guessing is a word that gives us shivers. Good research doesn't use guessing, it uses records. Not to mention.. the name MAY have originated in Spain (emphasize maybe).. but Spaniards emmigrated to every corner of the world, ie South America, the Phillipines, so forth. To find your actual real ancestors, you would have to work back from you, identify each one, and find a valid record about them. You MUST know the country, to do that, or you are spinning your wheels.

Here is a fantastic collection of how to get going, and the whole site is an encyclopedia of resources for genealogy.
Maybe you did not intend to get involved in research, but it really is a fascinating hobby.
