I took my first pill and felt a little out of it, then it was time for my second dose it practically knocked me out. I felt like hit when I woke up. My eyes wouldn't stop watering, I was unsteady, I had a headache(bad) and just felt miserable. Why is this drug considered a Narcotic? Or a controlled substance if it makes you fell like absolute ****! I took my first couple of doses on my day off, can't imagine working while on these pills. Suppose to take them three times a day. Can anyone that has taken these pills give me advice. I dont think I will continue taking these zombie pills.

I called my doctor and told him I dont want to be on this med. So I'm just waited for his office to call back. The reason he prescribed this med is because I've tried all the SSRI's and they just turn me into a zombie and also intensifies my anxiety. He wanted to give me Ativan or Xanax but I refused because of the withdraws you experiance when you come off of these medications. But I know regret that decision. Phenobarbital sucks man, I feel out of it. Know I got to go to work feeling like crap and Jury Duty too. Ugghhhh!

Phenobarb is a VERY strong narcotic, which is why you're feeling so out of it. It will knock you off your feet. However, I really question your doctor's choice in using phenobarb for anxiety when there are so many excellent anti-anxiety meds already on the market that are highly effective in most people with far fewer side effects. Paxil, Effexor are just a couple that are much gentler and allow a person to operate with full capacity.
I'd call your doctor and ask why phenobarb was prescribed instead of a newer medication that has been approved for anxiety. I'd tell him/her just how badly you're affected by the medication, and I'd insist on stopping the phenobarb and trying something less strong.

I think you made the right decision and that in the end everyone will feel better for it. Animals can feel a bit like children, but they're not and in the end I'm sure the puppy will have a good life. I think you've done something that few people ever do - chosen your marriage first. No matter what you do in the future, whether you adopt children or puppies or kittens, you will have a more stable home and a more fulfilling life if you choose your husband first. I can say that when I was a child I always felt more secure knowing my parents looked out for one another before me. It sounds crazy, but children and puppies grow up and in the end your husband is who you will have to love and depend on. If you're looking for something to nurture however consider adopting an older dog (like one to two years old) from a rescue, that way you'll know EXACTLY what you're getting into. The dog will be house trained and likely a bit more adjusted. It's a wonderful option because you can still get a young dog that will bond with you, but you skip all the accidents on the carpet and that needy whining stage that puppies have. The puppy you had may have been too young to leave the mother or just a needy dog in general. I hope you'll soon feel better about this, (you didn't throw away the dog or anything) and that you and your husband have a wonderful life together

Phenobarb for anxiety? What country are you in? Is your doctor 90 years old, because the last time I saw phenobarbital used regularly for anxiety was in the 70s, when there was nothing else.
Phenobarb is not a narcotic, but it is a controlled substance because it does have a potential for abuse... but not much since its so slow acting and extremely long acting....and it isnt really a good choice for most people with anxiety - there are far better drugs. Phenobarbital will probably make you feel sleepy and dragging all the time, but if you take it consistently for a few weeks, you probably wont feel as sleepy. I'd talk to your doctor (or a new one) about getting a drug that might work better.

Let your doctor know, he might want you to cut back on the amount and . . . sometimes you need to try using different meds until something works well.
You might be one of those persons who can only take a fraction of a pill, like 1/4, because your system is so sensitive.

Call your Doctor immediately and describe the
effects you experienced.
You might be having a bad reaction to the drug,
or there might have been a mistake in the dosage.
