Does anyone if there is anything i can use on him for his age ( 12 weeks). I did buy some whiskers biscuits which were for this but it says on the packet not to use before 6 months of age. Thanks in advance

He has been to the vet a lot and they said he is healthy but small for his age.

Harriet- what a stupid answer. When he bites or licks my hand i can smell it and when i cuddle him you can smell it, you don't have to smell an animal or humans mouth to know they have bad breath! Oh and yes he is fluffy.

without knowing what he's eating it's hard to say!
try to remember the breath will smell of whatever he's eating, and will also be affected by how it smells coming out the other end when he washes his bum! not a pleasant thought but it's true!
try giving him some plain fish as a treat that might make it smell fishy rather than "bad"

First check with your vet to see if there are any dental issues. That seems rather unlikely in a kitten, but you never know. Also have them evaluate how bad the breath is. It may just be your perception! There are feline mouthwashes out there, but I haven't researched them and so can't give an opinion one way or the other. I would only say that YOU should do research into them before giving them to your cat. As for brushing your kitten's teeth - you should do it. I failed to get my girls used to it when they were kittens. That's when you should do it. Here's a link with info on getting them used to it. FYI, you don't use human toothpaste - you can either brush with nothing, use Wysong's DentaTreat, or purchase feline toothpaste. (The second link includes a video).

Bad breath is usually caused by bacteria - the bad kind of bacteria. If allowed to continue, the cat could begin to develop infections and other complications. If you are able to get a good look inside the mouth, look for redness on the gums or brown or yellow tarter on the teeth. This is most likely the cause and there is little you can do at home to correct it. You should have the cat checked by a vet.

Try a different food. I've always given my kittens Iam's KITTEN (dry) food, when they're that young, then switched to Science DIet KITTEN when they can chew better. The Iam's is a little smaller and easier for the little ones to eat. The SD is larger, round, and oilier. You can feel/smell the difference. I've never had a breath problem w/my cats, unless I gave them canned or pouched food. Get the smallest bag ( I think 4 lbs) of the Iam's KITTEN, and try it. Serve it dry, and leave plenty of FRESH water available at all times. Hope this helps your kitten....since the vet says he's healthy! Good luck.........

I can't really answer your question but I just wanted to let you know that my kitten has smelly breath occasionally as well. I've put it down to the stuff they make her food out of. I try and find wet foods that are as close to what they originally looked like and what I think she would eat naturally e.g. tuna (in spring water) and little bits of raw chicken (this is good for their coat apparently), also you can get foods such as Sheba and the Gourmet range that look like what it says on the tin. I tried breath freshening treats but they didn't work and as for brushing her teeth ... I like my hands too much ;-)
Hope that helps.

If his breath is constantly smelly it may be worth a trip to the vet. Sometimes it's problems teething, occasionally it can be a stomach disorder.

Try give him milk. Check what your cat ate besides whiskers.

You can get special tablet type treats for this. My vetinary clinic sells these tablets along with special tooth brushes and paste for pets. I have some dog ones and im sure they do cat ones have look around in some vetinary clinics and im sure larger pet shops have sections on oral health for younger pets too. Hope this helps :)

It is possible that he has a bad tooth or a gum infection. You might want to take him to the vet.
