This is like the fourth or fifth straight year that Gordon finishes second in most popular driver voting.

I think he should finished between 6th and 10th.

The category is "The Most Popular Driver" His fans vote for him. Dale Jr. is the most popular driver because he got three times as many votes as Jeff Gordon did. Jeff Gordon came in second, because he got more votes than the third most popular driver. That's how it works.
One of the reasons that I don't participate in some other forums anymore is that some people think that their personal favorite driver should be everybody's favorite driver, and they are very quick to bash and insult any other driver, or the fan of any other driver.
Race fans have a favorite driver because, like in any other sport, it enhances the enjoyment of the event if you have somebody to root for. Many fans pick a driver because they like the way he drives, while others identify with his personality. For most fans, it is a combination of the two. Just because you personally don't like another driver doesn't mean he isn't popular.

because Johnson confirmed up at Hendrick, Gordon hasn't run that super. Realistically, extra because Evernham stopped being his team chief. i do no longer see Gordon being a championship contender anymore. He had a actual good run going until he scraped the wall at Atlanta final 12 months. some thing like 7 immediately suited 5s or some thing. He'd could desire to try this one and all the time to be champion back. precise now Gordon is the worst of the 4 considerable Hendrick vehicles and he has hassle purely getting a million or 2 wins a season. i could say his triumphing days are incredibly lots over.

He has more fans then most might think. People love to hate him. They dont like him because he has been successful for most of his career, and is one of the best NASCAR drivers ever. He has 4 championships, that he has won, and two that were rightfully robbed from him in 2004 and 2007. If it werent for Jr. he would have won the most popular driver award for like 5 years in a row, but as long as Jr. races he will win that award. This is Jr. Nation, his dad one of the best, and he helped make this sport what it is today, and his blood runs thru Jr. and thats why everyone loves him....

Probably because he has more fans than you think & you say he should finish between 6th & 10th, well Jr couldn't finish that well in a race. Jr has more most popular driver awards but what has that gotten him. Did he win any races this year? How about a championship? The only thing Jr has more of than Jeff Gordon this year is DNF's. Hate Gordon all you want but he is & always be a winner.

No matter personal opinion of Gordon, he is pretty popular among fans - he isn't the most popular obviously. I don't know how the voting is actually conducted but that would be something to look into in order to maybe change the outcome.

Because he's the second most popular driver maybe? I'm quite certain that where you THINK he should finish has nothing to do with how many fans he has.

It's absolutely amazing some of the questions you see asked here. They say there's no such thing as a stupid question....but I disagree.

Jeff Gordon fans need to vote more.. I know 5 totally Jeff Gordon fanatics, and they never voted one time..Jr Nation logged on everyday and voted..Some Gordon fans did vote cause he was 2nd again. Face it he has a ton of fans, I could never see him being between 6-10th..

He is quite popular. He has alot more fans than you might think. He would probally win it if not for Dale Jr. Jr. will probally win it the rest of his career unless he really messes up and says or does something that will offend his fans and I dont ever see that happening.

He didn't have enough six-packs to give away to buy first.
Yes that dupont paint is good, but not a lot of us can use it.
But we can all use a six pack to suck down when we rest in our Cot being bored.
