It depends upon whether a number of your guests will be having vacations planned around the 4th of July holiday.
Your friends/family could be unhappy with this choice if they have an annual family vacation around that time of year (alot of people build onto the holiday for a long weekend or so they can take fewer days off but get a whole week).

Actually it is a very good date if you have friends and family that come in for the holiday or if the family decides to go somewhere you can include your special wedding and reception at that location.

I think so - thats when my wedding is going to be. But I would call around to make sure there are still halls, churches and photographers available etc.

Yes because it is in early summer when nothing is wet anymore and it is nice and warm. thats the PERFECT day for an outside or inside wedding!

We're having ours on July 6th. It is a sunday.

People might have it off because it's after independence day, so that's a plus. It may be very hot depending on where you live. Your honeymoon will be perfect weather though!
