How about a toast instead of a speech!! My maid of honor toasted me saying that she was happy to see me to so happy that I finally found someone as crazy as me! My husband best man toasted that I should make him biscuits and gravy once a month for the rest of our lives. It was silly but made us all laugh. You could say something about the bride that is special to your relationship with her. Good luck!

No one at my wedding gave a speech, so no it is not mandatory. Talk to her about what her plans are for the reception and if she has allotted a time for you to do so or if you need to do so. Every wedding is different. If you need to give a speech, talk about when you first met her and how important she became in your life blah blah... then go onto how you have seen her change into an even lovelier person with this man in her life ........blah blah.....then onto wishing them a lifetime and a future full of love and many blessings to come. Something like that will sound nice.

The ONLY mandatory things are having an officiant, bride, groom, and two adult witnesses.

ALL other things are bonuses.

The MoH does not need to give a speech.

I was a maid of honor and I didn't have to give a speech. I did say that I wished them well, and that I could see their happiness. You could give a toast like previously suggested. Its a nice gesture.

No the best man gives the speech. But you could give one if you wanted to. I would point out my bf's growth since she had met her new husband and the best wishes you offer to them in their new life together
