I keep waiting for someone to ask about a background check during job interviews, but people don't. I want to bring it up, but I'm intimidated seeing as how I may have the job in hand at times.

If there is a question on the job application about it, then you should disclose it there. Usually the applications are screened before the interview. If there is no application, and only a resume is required, then I wouldn't put it on my resume. If they don't ask, don't tell. It's the employer's responsibility to find these things out. You would only be in the wrong if you lied about it. If nobody cares enough to ask, then you are in the clear.

Don't bring it up unless you are asked. Lots of big companies have it right on the job app. Don't lie, but don't tell. If you get the job, don't tell anyone you work with....never.

I agree - don't tell unless they ask. If they ask, tell them the truth AND tell them that it was a mistake of your youth, a problem in the past, whatever and that you have straightned out your life and will not make these mistakes again.

Good luck to you.

As long as you put it on your application and they don't bring it up.I wouldn't mention it.
