You know how there's that cliche scene of the firefighter getting the cat out of the tree? Well what happens when feral cats climb trees? Do they jump down? What about different kinds of wild cats? Can they climb down trees?

Feral cats aren't sissies. If they can climb up they know what they are doing and get down in a jifffy. There is one type of wild cat that can climb down head first because its ankles can flip around but I can't remember the name. Most wild cats climb trees but tigers, cheetahs, and most lions stay on the ground- at least as adults. Pumas can jump out of trees that are up to 30 feet high and land safely!

Feral and wild cats can climb down by themselves, and most times do.

if a cat can get up a tree, generally they can get down...the firefighter cliche is from owners like me who freak out at the slightest thing going on with their cat...

They climb back down on their own when they are hungry enough.
