I started following Jason Vales juicing diet thing on monday, where i make up a fresh fruit smoothie myself every morning and have this for breakfast and lunch, the smoothie consists of fresh fruits and veggies like cucumber, spinach, avocado etc. I then eat a well balanced dinner at around 5pm, usually grilled chicken and a small amount of brown rice and veggies, or a whole grain turkey sandwich. on sunday morning, i weighed 139.6 pounds. this morning, i weighed 133.6. could 6 pounds be for real??? i have been slowly losing weight since august and had lost 10-12 pounds before this. i am 5'9 and female. what do you think?

You can't have lost 6 pounds of fat - it's physically impossible, since you would have had to have a deficit of 3600 calories per day.

However, you're probably losing a bit of muscle and a lot of water weight from it. That's how most calorie-restriction diets start off - with rapid weight loss from water weight. Your weight loss will slow down, but keep at it - you'll be losing more fat in the next couple of weeks! :-) Good luck.

Until you have reached a certain level of body tone most of the weight lost is "water weight". So 6 pounds does not seem like an abnormal loss. However, along with ANY diet you should have your progress evaluated by a doctor or at least a dietitian. A doctor through blood tests can best evaluate if the nutrients necessary for healthy growth are sufficient in your body or if perhaps you need to SLOW down. Not all body systems are alike. You are unique from anyone else. Let a doctor advice you on "what is right" concerning a medical condition. Good luck and don't over do it. You were just find looking before. Why would you want to change anything?

There are other reasons for drops in weight too. I think a likely one for you is water weight. By having smoothies twice a day and a healthy dinner, I'm sure your sodium intake has dropped by a lot, which will help your body drop extra water. We also gain and lose weight at different points in our menstrual cycles, so don't be heartbroken if a pound or two comes back... just know that you're eating healthy and that weight is not fat and will go away again.

Seems pretty realistic. Are you still drinking plenty of water? If you are, then I would say that you lost the weight and not just water loss from dieting.

Your results are not unreasonable; especially since you are starting a new diet and probably will experience an initial systemic detoxification, accompanied by a release of retained water. I would not expect long-term sustainable losses of this magnitude, but a gradual decrease, once your body adjusts to its new regimen.

Just cutting the salt out of your diet can do that much.

I do the lemon cleanse/fast every couple of months.

It flushes all of the excess salt out of your system. Around the third day you start peeing constantly. I have lost as much as 20 pounds this way in 5 days with no ill effects.

Yes My doctor approves of this.

Love and blessings Don

this is water weight also have you notice an increase in going to the bathroom? is your stool looser than normal? fruit juices are a natural dietetic which causes an increase in bowel movements and urinary activity. The weight you lost is real, real water weight and will return.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Think about what you can include to your diet, not everything you must take away. Integrate scrumptious veggies into your meal, rather than serving them quietly. Not only will they offset the fat as part of your chicken or meat, but the phytochemicals in fresh produce are that can prevent diseases.

Beans, beans, are great for your heart, the more consumed the more you… lose excess weight actually. Super-effective and full of fibre, beans will regulate your appetite and decrease the rate at which your stomach empties, meaning you continue to be fuller for longer.
