I have the thing where you can plug in the red, white, and yellow cords into it from a PS2, DVD player, Dreamcast, and VCR and you just press the button for which one you want to use. And I have the white cable cords but the DirecTV receiver is using black cords. Help, please. :-)

Usually those cords are plugged directly into the back of your TV like the Video 1 and 2 slots or you can use the port on the back of the vcr and use the aux on that. I have never heard of plugging into the back of a receiver unless it is a DVD-recorder. PS2 Just plug into the video connection on the back of your TV if you do not have one time to get a new TV same goes with the DVD player.

If your TV has video and audio inputs which are the RCA connections with yellow, white and red colors in the middle then you need an AV switch (audio video switch) to select which of these sources you want to use. Connect the output of the AV switch to the matching yellow, white and red inputs on the TV with RCA cables. Connect the AV outputs from each device to the individual inputs on the AV switch which usually has four inputs. So # 1 could be PS2, # 2 could be DVD player, # 3 could be VCR, and # 4 could be Dreamcast (or whatever order just make sure output from each device - yellow, white and red - is paired up with the same connections from the device to the same input on the switch).

Switch to the TV AV input for viewing items on the switch.

Need to record with the VCR? Disconnect the black cable from the DirecTV receiver which is currently going to the TV antenna input. Connect this cable to the antenna input of the VCR. Connect another such cable from the VCR Output to TV connector to the TV antenna connector.

If your TV does not have AV inputs you need a RF modulator or you can use the AV inputs of the VCR when the VCR is not used for recording or playback. Connect the AV switch output to the modulator or the VCR video and audio inputs Or get a AV switch with built in RF modulator. Either way the VCR connection is the same if you used the VCR to add these signals in. The difference is if you use a separtate modulator or the one in an AV switch you need to add the modulator between the VCR "output to TV" and the TV. Connect VCR "output to TV" to Modulator RF INput. Connect modulator RF OUTput or Output to TV to the TV set antenna input.
