Tommy you may be 100% correct this new boyfriend my be being overly nice. It is very hard on a lot of fella's trying to fit into this new environment and as such they go overboard trying to sell themselves to not only their new ladies but also their children. If you are comfortable enough I suggest that you confront this guy and let him know how you've been feeling and tell him that he doesn't need to overdo it as you like him for who he is. Not an easy task I realize but he will respect you for being mature and brave enough to confront him. Best of luck.

I think you need to explain a bit more but in the meantime, the inference of what you did say makes me tell you stay away from him and keep a lot of communication going with your mom.

Too nice in the case of your mother's boyfriend is not for you to decide, but for her to decide. As long as someone is treating your mother respectfully, you have no problem.

He is just trying to impress, maybe he is trying too hard, that's why you feel is is being too nice. Don't worry, at least he tried to give you a good impression.

You're just going to have to stick it up, it's your mom's boyfriend, not yours. Or you could just talk to your mom about it.
