I'm getting over something similar. It started with a minor sore throat and then went to severe head congestion with high fever (102.4) and really bad body aches. Very painful sinuses for about 36 hours. However, a week later I'm fine. I'm calling it more than a cold, but less than the flu. You really need to rest, eat well and drink fluids, especially warm soothing ones and lay off the Benadryl. Aspirin or Tylenol for pain is okay, but usually your body will do better if you let it work on its own--as long as your immune system is good. If you're not better in a week to 10 days get yourself to the doctor.

You might have a strep throat because if you have a fever that goes and comes and your temperature is above normal like 104. something or 104 or above 104 (like head and body and if your body feels very hot) won't go down, and if it's hard and hurts for you to swallow your spit or food or whatever you drink. Also if you can't sit up for long and just feel like lying down and not getting up. One more thing if you try and eat something and the taste of the food is not tasting right in your mouth or you're thinking the food has no taste. Check the back of your throat first and sees if it's white, then, maybe you have strep throat.

It could be alot of things other than a cold. The symptoms you have fit a lot of things but most likely is it is a sinus infection. Those tend to take a little longer to go away and you should see your doctor for a valid diagnosis. He can give you something to help with all of your discomfort.

It sounds like you need to checked by doctor to see if you have a sinus infection. Make an appointment.
To help yourself feel better now, drink lots of liquids, take an expectorant (robitussin with the green label - not DM), and take a nice steamy shower and take some mentholated cough drops.

Any cold which last for more then a week needs to be evaluated by a doctor. Left untreated it can turn to pneumonia. And since your cough is not productive your body is not able to rid it self of mucous which can cause extra fluids to build up - pneumonia
