Right now i just got home from a night out and im still drunk. I just ate a bit of pizza that i re-heated and had a cup of tea, and i really enjoyed it. I feel really happy right now. I know its only because i have alcohol in my system, but i was wondering if its possible to appreciate something a simple as this when im sober. Maybe a way i can look at things, change my mindset etc?

Okay, you have made an excellent observation. You feel physically more capable of being happy when you have alcohol. I learned that alcoholics will "suffer" being drunk as a side effect because they are seeking the boost in seratonin, a brain chemical. This is the same brain chemical that is off balance when a person suffers from depression. If you take medication (antidepressant) that helps your body regulate the amount of seratonin, then you will not need alcohol to boost it, and not have to suffer the ill effects of drinking on your body. Like a diabetic takes insulin to adjust his body chemistry.

Can you breath? Can you see? How about just hearing?? Do you talk?? Walk? Eat?? Those are simple things in life among a few that we all take advantage of...When you need to appreciate life stop and take a long look at you and your physical self....try and start with that, try to look yourself in the mirror each day and give yourself a compliment!

dont look at things so negative all of the time maybe u just dont relize wat u have and u dont need to get drunk all of the time cause most ppl die from being a alcoholic
