Well I have a regular tv. So does HDMI only work for HD-Tvs?

Your regular tv won't have an HDMI jack on it. You'd have to use some kind of converter like a high-end stereo receiver to turn the signal coming from the HDMI source into one your standard tv can use.

A regular Tv like yours will not even have the jacks capable of using a HDMI cable. If you want HD you need a HDTV and a HD receiver and a HD or Bluray DVD player. So to answer your question hdmi cable works only for hd tv and hd components.
