Plz give me a star if you thin this is interesting. I just want to point out that they talk much about love and of how much we "infidels" need Islam but they do nothing to preach.

I understand that Mohamed did preach unto the idolatrs and had little success so later on he started a war with them, can we therefore conclude that is is faster to preach with the sword than with the book?

Most Christians don't do that, a few groups do, most notably the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons.
What does your second statement have to do with your question? But it seems like common sense to not hang around with people who might kill you. When the Quran was written, Muslims were in constant danger of persecution.
I don't get your point, just seems like hate mongering to me.
I'm not going to give you a freaking star. How come Christians preach love and they went to the Americas and killed everybody that refused to convert to Christianity? I'm talking about Christopher Columbus.

Muslims are supposed to spread Islam with wisdom. Now, is it wise that I walk up to you and say, "You've got to join my religion, or else?" There are ways to share Islam without shoving it down people's throats. Nobody likes that. There are Muslims who come to YA to share Islam, but we don't do door-to-door. Unless of course you happen to BE Muslim already, then you'll get a knock on your door from the Tabligi Jamaat, but that's another story.
As to the verse you mentioned, you should understand the Arabic text to appreciate the true nature of its meaning. This verse was revealed in the context of much intrigue against the Muslims by the Jews in Medina with whom they had a treaty. In this verse they are being warned that they should not take them as protectors and rely on them for help against the existential threat they were facing. This proved to be a good warning as the Muslims were beseiged by the pagans with the help of some of the Jews with whom they had a treaty. It does not mean for all time Muslims can't have Jews and Christians as friends! If that were the case, how could a Muslim be allowed to marry a Jewish or Christian woman? Please be careful not to take an English translation of one verse out of the context for which it was revealed. It is a common mistake that many people make in the study of all religions. It only leads to misunderstanding. I hope that clears it up for you and thank you for asking for clarification.
EDIT: I encourage you to read up on the early history of Islam and what the conditions were for the first Muslims and then you will understand why wars broke out and who started them. There is no idea in Islam that one can "spread Islam by the sword". This is an orientalist invention. The Quran itself says "there is no compulsion in religion", so if one were to try to forcibly convert someone it would be of no spiritual value for either of them.

What's an "azora?" Anyway, verse 28 is translated: "the believers should not make the disbelievers their allies rather than other believers...."
Did you catch the "rather than" part?
And the subtle differences between believer - unbeliever - infidel - atheist should not be overlooked. But then, we are ripping this badboy right outta context, aren't we? I mean, compared and contrasted with verse 199 of the same surah - we see that non-Muslims are actually believers.

> Muslims, if Islam is so important, why don't muslims preach house to house like Christians do?

To be honest with you we don't need to, the media give us enough publicity mostly bad but the educated ones among the non-muslims do further research to find the truth and more often than not when they learn about Islam they see the truth and their hearts become filled with light. Praise be to God.
