Matthew 19:29: And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

The Scripture does not command everyone to abandon their family.

You are taking it out of the context of the surrounding verses, and Scripture as a whole. This method of reading scripture is called "fundamentalism" or strict literalism, and it does not do justice to God's Word.

What Scripture IS saying is that sometimes when we embrace Truth, and others don't (even those close to us) it can cause division. This is simply a logical statement of fact.

Quite often, people have a change of heart, but their family and friends have not changed at all and this might cause division or hurt feelings. But just because someone disagrees with you is no reason to turn your back on the Truth.

Scripture is saying you must embrace the Truth, no matter what the consequences, and to of course pray that your loved ones will, too.

Pax Vobiscum+

First, let's establish God's will more clearly with 1 Timothy 5:8:

"But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

What Christ asks in Matt. 19:29 is that we must be willing to give up whatever we must to be closer to Him. Christ also preaches that all sorts of stuff is going to happen, that Christ's message will be a sword that will even divide some families a.long the lines of believers and non-believers

Basically, whatever you have to do to fulfill Christ's will gets paid back with massive interest in this life and beyond.

I thank maybe your taking the whole thing out of context, read the whole chapter and do some praying and ask God to give the true meaning , the last thing God wants to do is bust up a family unless there is abuse and heart ack, like in some cases there was a young lady when she was saved she was so excited she went home after church and told her family she was saved they started making fun of her then later she sufferd a large amount of abuse , and with that she had to leave her family to heal from this abuse to never to return agian.

You can't read this as literally as you're taking it.

If you abandon your family with the goal of saving yourself...well, that's a pretty selfish thing to do. God will see the intent in your heart.

If while on your path to God you discover obstacles in your way that force you to choose between your faith and something or someone else that takes you off of your path to God and you choose to walk the path of the righteous -- which for many of us is the harder path to walk -- then you will find peace, heaven, comfort, etc., in your relationship with God.

Your goal shouldn't be to save yourself at the expense of your relationship with others. Your goal should be a relationship with God, which hopefully will bring you closer to others.

Jesus Christ is the way, truth, and light. Airtight, wouldn't you say?

Lots of White Supremest living in Idaho abandoned their family to play hate games in the woods. Your neighborhood?

It's part of the power struggle over your mind. What it means is that if any of those things get in the way of your faith that the faith would prefer that you dump them in favor of the faith.

It's the traditional power struggle for your attention.

If your father is a crime boss or a child molester then yes. The Truth comes first. If your brother murdered someone and asked you to lie on the witness stand out of love or loyalty for him then your loyalty should remain in the Truth.

No, it is not. You are taking this out of context.

You are to take care of your family. We are told in the book of John that to neglect your family is a sin.

This vesre applies to Christian parents and Christian childreen . If you are Muslim and want to b christian , it wouldn't be a sin to abonden your family. If you r a Christian and want to b a Muslim or convert to any other religion , it would b a sin in Christianity.

Good Luck!!
