Dress $800
Ceremony site $500
Reception site $1500
Real Flowers for reception $50 (I bought spring bulbs & will be forcing them ~ this way there will be a *ton* of fresh flowers on the tables, but is much cheaper than buying from a florist)
Fake Flowers $50 (For mine & bridal party boquets, as well as the garden arch we are standing under. I bought *all* of these on sale or w/coupons)
DJ $725
Caterer $12/person (estimating approx 120 guests)
Photographer $3000
Officiant $150
Total: $8215 :(

We still haven't gotten or priced a cake. Nor have we purchased the alcohol/drinks for the reception (are budgeting 500 for this) We are making our own invitations, will be doing so in the next few weeks. (Hoping to spend 200) That also doesn't include the cost of renting chairs, linens, etc ~ which we have priced & are estimating $800-$1000. Have not yet priced tux rental or rings. Whew!!!

The thing is ~ we really *are not* doing anything fancy, nor are we trying to have a big wedding. We could have saved money by holding the reception in a relatives back yard ~ but we were afraid it would feel just like any other family get-together (and our family gets together a lot) we wanted to do something special & different.

We live in the midwest, and the above list is the cheapest we could find for the services listed. I could have saved $$ on the dress, but I absolutely loved it (besides, mom bought it initially & is letting me make small interst free payments to her :))
Also, we did find less expensive photographers, but we didn't want to scrimp on photos ~ that is all we will have left to remind us of our day. Our price includes all day coverage from 2 photographers, wedding book, 2 parents books, all images on a flash drive w/full rights to them.

EDIT: Although we didn't set out w/a strict budget ~ we *expected* to pay $5000. Clearly, we are way over :( It sucks that even though we are going w/out all of the wedding extras that people talk about, we are still spending so much money ~ just to hold a nice dinner w/dancing!

I expected to pay 7k. I ended up paying 5k. The way you should be thinking is "How cheap can I get this?". The budget it simply a stopping point, a line you don't cross. The budget is not a goal of how much you are trying to spend.

Budgets are pointless if you don't stick to them. If you have gone over budget you need to tell yourself "OK I'm done!" or when you have $500 budgeted for flowers and the florist says a certain arrangement is going to be $800 you need to find ways to bring that down to $500.....not say "oh well" and write the check. The point is you need to learn some self-restraint and figure out how to just say NO to vendors. Figure out things you can return or changes in things you've already purchased that you can make to get back where you should be financially. Yes "its your memories".....but it's also just one day and reality has to kick in somewhere.

well we had around £16 in the kitty, but never intended to spend it all, I think we spent around £12 in the end, I could have done it cheaper, but we were so furtunate not to need to I didn't worry too much, my dress was cheap- £240, but it was vivid raspberry pink! I made biscuit favours, put together kids packs with cheapy bits from wilkos and tesco, made the place names all cos I wanted to, and my sister, a graphic designer did all the stationery. Our big spends were a fabulous swing band at over £1000! But it was SO worth it. And the photographer as well.

Lucky me, in 1948 I got married with £10 in my pocket and got three cruets as wedding presents, These days I reckon you could easily add three noughts to my tenner but you will not be any happier than I was. Sorry but the cost of the wedding is in direct ratio to the size of the "Do"

I have not had mine yet, but I am carefully calculating the costs.
I am estimating US $15-to-$20,000 will be the cost of my wedding for 150 people in Central-PA.
