Did anyone else notice how uptight these people are? Do they have a note in their contract that they are not allowed to have a good time at the awards banquet? They would show shots of the crowd during performances and noone was smiling or laughing or seemed to be enjoying themselves at all. Were their ties to tight or did they all send clones of themselves? I was just a little disappointed that they all looked like deer in the headlights on one of their biggest nights.

I have to agree, David Spade wasn't that funny and Tom Brokaw was excellent, but, they all really need to lighten up. Maybe it is the tuxes.......just wear their fire suits next year?

Loco-mama !! Hope the rail's have been going smooth !!
When I got to the 'Ties' being to 'tight', I was thinking Firesuit also !! They ought to loosen-up a little, and have a good time huh? Dag-gone ''Waldorf Astoria Hotel'' ain't that cheap to rent these day's !!! I say... ''Get drunk & Get loud, and
look for the 1st person who cut me off, during the season, and wreck the place-up a little !!! lol. Tony Stewart, [in the crowd]
looked like Jack Nicholson,in the last part of 'One Flew over the coco's Nest !! The N.Y hobo took all David Spade's feel good money!! Heck, I figured Carl Edwards would at least do a back-flip,off the stage !! He never does it with his Helmet on anyways? Stewart could of climbed the Curtain's? Heck!! break something?? Place ain't cheap !!! lol

David Spade was awful. No wonder no one was smiling or laughing. The drivers all looked like they were miserable in those suits. Tony and Kyle had the best speeches. Most of the show was very boring. Since I love Nascar, I would never miss a minute of it, no matter how boring it is.

I thought David Spade was funny in his acknowledgements that it was "going good." He's made a lot of funny movies and was great on SNL, but didn't seem right at the NASCAR banquet.

I heard the first song Kelly Clarkson sang 300 times during the NASCAR season and the second song is played out on the radio.

I wished I had some alcohol to play a drinking game every time Tony Stewart said, "But uh" or "So uh."

I noticed that too, they did seem uptight or maybe they were just tired. They have been up there all week with event after event they had to go to but thats what champonship is all about is getting there and being able to do all that stuff. To me anyway, their speeches didnt seem as scripted as they did in the past. They were'nt reading off the teleprompter like a robot like the last few years. Jerry Punch did a good job. Tom Browkaw was good but David Spade to me was just as bad as Jay Moher was the past couple of years, he was aweful. I wont watch a repeat of it like I normally do thats for sure. To me Tony and Kyle had the best speeches and Matt's speech was just like it is everytime(short and to the point).

You couldn't help but notice the tension. First off, David Spade REALLY sucked. He was trying to be funny, obviously, but he wasn't at all. When he joked about being in a crash and breaking his finger I think he insulted them. These drivers and crew members risk their lives every time they race and THAT is nothing to joke about. Anyway, Tom Brockaw's tribute to Bill France Jr was very well done. You could tell he was a real friend of Bill's and meant every word he said. Jack Roush looked like an adult that got stuck at the kiddie table at Christmas. He didn't seem to be in a good mood and you know he wanted badly to be sitting on the stage again. Did you notice when Carl was thanking his teammates? They panned over to Matt Kenseth when Carl tried to kiss his butt a little but Matt didn't even try to fake a smile. I thought Rick Hendrick's speech was awesome but my boy Jimmie came off dry again. He's the man, but he really doesn't have the media presence that Jeff does. I thought Smoke's speech was cool, especially his thanks to Chevy for all they've done for him (he still hasn't signed an extension with JGR, hmmmm). I'm not a big Shrub fan but I thought his was about the best speech of the night especially when he referred to Eva again, Kurt's wife. Remember last year when he called his girlfriend that by accident? That was too funny. Well, that's some stuff that I noticed.

It was awful it was almost a torture to watch it.. Kyle and Tony had the best speech.. David Spade sucked so bad, it was unbearable.. Jeff Burton was good, Matt as usual short and to the point.. Everyone looked so uptight, next yr let them wear their firesuits.. Rick Hendrick gave a good speech..Jimmie its your 2nd championship come on lighten up, he was dry and flat.. His team mate Jeff Gordon needs to give him some on camera pointers...Take this banquet to Vegas, let them party.. Face it Nascar & New York City, just doesn't fit...After this awards banquet, we are really ready for Speed Weeks to start....The countdown is now at 79 days to the Daytona 500...Lets have a great next yr..Nascar lighten up on this awards show next yr, let the drivers have some fun. They all looked like they had rather be someplace else..

David Spade sucked, and did anyone even hear Truex or Hamlin get mentioned? If they did, I missed that part.If your only going to put the top 10 on stage, then just have 10 on the chase. Tony was funny, and Kyle Busch. I don't like Matt Kenseth, although he is a great driver,.It was dissappointing.

I agree also David Spade sucked totally....
Brokaw was a professional that he is...
I flipped channels thru the whole thing because it was so dry... the boys were out of their element.. They need to have a bbq down in Alabama or the Carolinas and let them wear jeans and tshirts and have Ron White or Larry the Cable guy come in and mc it......lol

i could opt for to make certain some factors for qualifying. in particular with the final 35 in factors in the race. apart from the pole and the communities attempting to get in, i think of qualifying has became into some what of a humorous tale. i don't in ordinary terms like the guideline that in keeping with possibility the quickest 40 3 won't be the 40 3 in the race. factors for qualifying perhaps...perhaps could make it slightly greater vaulable.

Ya know I kinda agree, but I thought Kyle Busch's speech will show all his haters "This is Kyle Busch" he is just AWESOME!!!!!!!! Loved the drivers speeches, (Kyle's and Gordon's the best) all in all I thought it was pretty good! Maybe next year they should get all buzzed up or something and try to have fun!!!!!
