Why do so many atheists think, that if one believes in God, then they're "extreem". I believe in God, but I'm not a fundamentalist.

I'm not saying all atheists, but a lot of them.

There are only a few like that. Most of them are very kind to us and treat us with respect. (That is what I choose to believe. The ones who are rude and who call us names are just angry children....)

Most atheists make a clear cut distinction between moderate believers and fudamentalists, although it's more of a continuum of course.

I don't think anyone is extreme unless they start talking about how everyone who doesn't believe like they do is going to hell, and about how homosexuality is wrong (likewise, hellfire and brimstone brought up), and about how abortion, television, the Golden Compass, stem cells, abolishing the death penalty, secularism, and "promiscuity" are all leading us to a path to...well, I think you get the picture.

It is not the belief in god that makes a person an extremist, it is the actions.

Forcing the belief on others is extremist.

Very, very few of us think that way. Some who do believe that believing in a supernatural entity is extreme. I don't see it as a big deal.

believing in something that has no evidence to prove that it's true is a bit extreme in my book

Imagine if everyone around you was insisting that Santa Claus really did exist.
