Absolutely not. Any kind of spark from rifles anwhere close to him could cause an explosion. Please don't do it.

Taking an old man on an oxygen tank does not sound like the best idea to me. If you walk any distance he will get worn out fast which could effect his health. I agree with the other user, a .22 is all a would risk using and I would certainly ask his doctor first and then get a second opinion. As long as you don;t shoot the oxygen tank it won't be a problem... his well being is the main concern.

i know ill get thumbs down on this from some people, but yes it is safe to shoot with an oxygen tank. my grandfather was on oxygen for years and shot regularly. the metered oxygen runs through a hose directly into the nose and is breathed in. it will not in a well ventilated outdoor environment build oxygen levels to an unsafe level.
As far as actually hunting that depends on his physical condition. for my grandfather unfortunately he was not able to hunt, but we did enjoy driving out to the ol farm and shooting some cans and stuff.

I dont know. Oxygen is highly flamable. If he's going to take the shot then no (just in case) since there is a explosion in the bullet chamber, or if he/you will be using a muzzle loader where there is an open flame (depending on how old the gun is). but if you will be the one shooting, go for it hunting is all about family fun and the outdoors.

The amount of utter ignorance on this board staggers me at times. Oxygen in itself is NOT flammable, it is an oxydizer, meaning it will aid in the combustion of flammable substances. If you wanted to try it, you could blow 100% pure oxygen at a lit candle and it will NOT blow up! Oxygen has to be in direct contact with some type of fuel source in order to explode. An Oxy-acetelene torch will NOT light if you only turn the oxygen on, you have to turn the acetelene on( the ONLY flammable gas in an oxy-acetelelene torch rig) The oxygen acts as a catalyst, it is exactly what it claims to be, an oxydizer.
That being said, consider your grandfathers overall health before taking him to the woods, would his doctor allow it? If his Dr. says it's ok, and your grandfather thinks he can manage, then by all means take him hunting!

The oxygen tank really isn't a problem. Your grandfather's physical condition may be a problem. Ask his doctor if your grandfather can safely shoot a firearm. It's the shock that may be a danger.
I suggest that a squirrel hunt would be nice. You can find a place just inside the woods (easy access) where you two can sit by a tree and harvest a few squirrels for supper. A .22LR ought to be safe enough in any physical condition.

Most propane dealers won't fill a tank completely full. They leave at least 1/4 to 1/8 of the tank empty.

ROBERT N gave you an excellent answer.
The O2 tank and the gun are not the hazards. Being far from medical help would be the biggest concern. Your grandfather and his doctor should be the best judges of his capacity for a little exercise. If it's within his abilities, it sounds like a great thing to do.

I agree with Robert N. You need to consult your Granddad's doctor about his physical capability.
If you can drive the old gent to a ground blind, let him out of the truck and let him sit with his rifle, that would be the ideal hunt for him.

There will be no problem with him hunting with his oxygen tank. Do not let him sit too close to a stove with an open flame nor near a camp fire, thought..

Nice to bring grandpa hunting and stuff, but if he is in a condition to need oxygen, should he be trampling around in the woods wheeling a rifle that could injure himself or you... or possibly have a heart attach if sudden gun fire?
