If God showed you he is real by just "showing" up his very presence would destroy you because his presence destroys sin. For Christians, his appearance will transform them because they have given him permission to do so and all sin will be removed from them. People who don't accept Christ would be destroyed by his showing up. So isn't it more merciful the way he is going about it? Asking you to listen to his thousands and even millions of witnesses and see for yourself he is real by receiving him, talking to him, asking him into your "heart" (soul)? And on Judgement day, how much evidence will he be able to show you that you deliberately chose to believe liars and hecklers instead of his people? will he find you spend your time thinking up ways to Mock him or did you search for evidence he is really there? Did you seek him? Be sure you are careful with your eternal destiny and not careless! Does that make sense? Is that Logical enough? Do you understand he is Holy? Your soul is eternal

What's logical is that total strangers have no business concerning themselves with what may or may not not happen to other total strangers after they drop dead.

I don't think much of this. Also I would rather be destroyed by his presence then live for an eternity in it because it would be 1) boring and 2) if he expects people to be idiots and believe something without truth, then his followers are not the type of people around whom I want to be. I don't know, I suppose he could be more merciful about it, by allowing us to do whatever we want. Also it is strange that God places the onus on us, not him, if he is all-powerful. Also I used to be religious, but I realized that it is all ridiculous lies. I don't know how much evidence he will be able to give me on Judgement day, but it would be more effective if he gave it to me now. Also I have searched for evidence for both the existence of God, and the non-existence of God, and I have found much more for the latter, and have not spent time "mocking him" as you so ungraciously suggest. I am being extremely deliberate with my eternal destiny. If God, even though I live my life in a moral, honest manner with logic and reason, still does not accept me into heaven, then that is a place where I REALLY don't want to be. That makes sense to me.

Furthermore, you're argument for religion is based on the Bible, which means that is circular and therefore doesn't make sense. There is something called an ontological argument which is much better for proving religion, though very few religious people seem to realize that, and continue with their rejection of logic.

In religious belief . Belief in gods , souls , angels , heaven , and all other supernatural beliefs , there is no logic . No religious belief can be logically explained . Religious belief is strictly in the mind, there is no logic , no proof , no sense , no understanding, - - - you are told to believe blindly without demanding explanations or evidence.
Are you careful of your eternal destiny ? So many believe the choice is between Atheism or the god they believe in . Have you ever considered that some other of the thousands of gods that have come and gone , or are still here in other religions , may be the real one - - - not the one you worship ?
Remember your soul is eternal , don't mess it up by worshipping a fake god , no matter how clever he might have been .

You seem to assume that all non-Christians are completely without spirituality. I do not reject the Christian God, because to me, there's nothing to reject. I believe I do not know everything there is to know about this Universe, but that does not translate into belief in a particular version of religion. You say they are many witnesses? Fine. There are also many who attest to carry the message of Mohamed. Or to get insight from the scriptures of Buddha. By accepting your message, I would automatically reject theirs and they could make the same argument you are making now.
I live honestly with my beliefs. I practice some of the rituals of Zen Buddhism, but am not a Buddhist as such (There are certain notions I would need to accept in order to be a full Buddhist - interestingly, no Buddhist ever threatened me with anything for not accepting these notions as they tend to take an "all in good time" attitude.). A God that would punish me for seeking to better myself as an ethical being to the best of my experience and ability is a God that makes no sense to me. This is why I shrug off the threats of fundamentalism.
Thank you very much for your concern.

I can understand your words but I don't believe them coming from you any more than I believed them coming from the Reverend 23 years ago.

I've done a lot of reading, I took many classes on the college level in comparative religions and I happen to know quite a few college theology professors both at secular and religious universities and I've had plenty of talks with them. I've come to the conclusion, on my own, that it just isn't real.

Now, if empirical evidence was presented I would be more than happy to look at that, but thus far it hasn't happened. What you believe is faith and faith is not fact. I respect that you have the right to do that, just as I have the right to disbelieve.

And your logic is based on what? The bible which has proven itself nothing more than the word of men. The bible has been translated multiple times, written and then rewritten multiple times, edited and re-edited multiple times and yet you still claim it as the unfaultering word of a god? The bible is nothing more than a collection of parables, similar to ancient Greek and Roman mythology. The bible is a tool created by men and used by men for the sole purpose of gaining control over other men.

Thanks, but no thanks, for the sermon.

And for the record, I am not mocking anyone. I am simply stating an opinion; and, his thousands and millions of witnesses, considering their record, do not inspire me with shall we say "faith."

I did not look for reasons not to believe. I looked for reasons to believe for years, but could not find any other than "Pascal's Wager" which is something I thought of on my own, but had to decide the truth is the truth.

And, if I turn out to be wrong somehow, I believe that this God will be far more understanding than a lot of his believers.

PLS stop making 'more the fool'(Mt 23) of yourself.

(As in Adam[soul] all die)
Mortality is NOT Immortality

Holy Holy is NOT Holy Bible

You are asking intelligent people to believe that God will destroy them just by "showing up" ? LMAO!!!

Why doesn't he send Metatron (or another angel) like he did in the past?

Surely, in his infinite wisdom God could devise a way to prove his existence to me without destroying me.
