Since you did not give us the model number of your laptop,we can't look it up for you. But here's how you do it.

Go to the (laptop's) manufacturer's website. Look for the manual or documentation for that model. Open that document (it is probably a PDF file) and search for the word SPECIFICATION. Within the specification, it will tell you what model graphics comes with it, and maybe you will learn what video card slot type is available for an alternate video card. (many laptops do not have this).

Here is an example. This Toshiba has the full specification shown at the sales sheet. It is also available in the downloadable manual. But take a look at this typical spec.

Go to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114309
Click on the SPECIFICATION tab
You will see that it says:
Graphics Card Intel GMA950
When you scroll down to PORTS, you will see that it does not say anything about a video slot. It only says "Video Port 1 x VGA, 1 x S-Video TV-out " which are NOT slots for a new video card.

Thank you.... normally it goes "no good deed goes unpunished"

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Right click My Computer and choose Properties. In the upper left side of the "System" window, click "Advanced system settings". In the "System Properties" window, click the "Hardware" tab and then the "Device Manager". In the "Device Manager" window, click the little plus in front of "Display adapters. This will show you what is controlling the video adapter. It could be a embedded video card or, like in my case, it could be the chip set.

If you would like to know more about this system, you could download the "Belarc" advisor. It will diognose and report all hardware and software that is installed in any PC. If you do decide to use the advisor, give it a little time to work. It needs to scan your system to enable it's report.

Read the laptop User Manual from cover to cover or look up the specs on the laptop manufacturer's website.

BTW, it probably isn't a card, it's soldered in to the motherboard.

f you have DirectX installed (Highly Likely). Go to start then run and type "dxdiag". That will show you information about your computer as well as your video card type. You can also check out the device manager.

Right click my computer and click Manage.

Then click Device manager on the left.

Then click the [+] next to 'Display Adaptors'

It then lists it. EG: 'nvidia GeForce 7600GS'
