sony is stupid for the 40gb idea tho they shoulda just took out the blue ray effect
(which i bet is making the ps3 so expensive)
THEN SOLD IT FOR $299 and just make the blue ray player an add on for 150 to 200 dollars they woulda had things going hella better DAMN THEY DONT KNO HOW TO HUSTLE!

which making people have time to save up for the blue ray add on and buy it to make it play with better resolution High definition or watever u call it

the 40gb right now only comes with av cables so its not high def

its like selling the 360 arcade but ps3 idea burns the 360 arcade idea by miles

Games on blueray discs .....50 gig blueray , what does that mean to you..well it should mean that the ps3 games are huge and don't have to sacrifice gaming for graphics like the 360 has to using 8 gig dvds...Played halo 3 lately ...Other than online I doubt anyone has because when you drop 60 bucks on halo3 you beat the game in less then 4 hours (wow that was worth 60 bucks)

Ps3 games like uncharted drakes fortune ( very similar to 360 gears but not chunky ) takes days to beat. why it's filling 26 gig of the 50 available and guess what there are no load times why because files aren't smashed and squezzed onto tiny discs.

THe fact that you can also watch Blueray movies is just an added bonus because the reason for blueray wasn't movies it was gaming...

Ps3 80gig is only $499 and it is complete....I don't have to buy wifi it comes with , I don't have to buy rechargable controller addon ,, it comes with, and I don't have to buy a hd movie player it comes with....Free ONLINE GAMEPLAY!!!

360 would cost me over $750 before I even put a game in. But that is what Microsoft markets , slow drain on the pocket... You get the $299 360, then a month later you want the recharger $20. then amonth later you want the wifi - $100, then a month later you are bored with it because gears and Halo 3 only take a day to beat so you want online $50.. THen you want the headset, then you want, then you want, Then you want hddvd because you got the hdtv now. Hddvd addon $179..

Get it Microsoft is hosing everyone and they don't even know it.

How is the PS3 price too high? The 80GB PS3 costs just $50 bucks more than the 360 Elite, and the 40GB PS3 costs just the same as the Xbox 360 Halo edition.

If you ask me, Microsoft needs to stop selling that stupid Xbox arcade with no hard drive. They only sell that model so that you will go and buy a $100 20GB hard drive later on.

Second of all, Sony couldn't take out the Blu-Ray in the 40GB PS3 because ALL PS3 games use Blu-Ray DVD's. Video game developers can do more with Blu-Ray DVD's than standard DVD's that Microsoft developers have to use. Right now, the only developers that are taking avantage of the Blu-Ray on the PS3 is developers that make PS3 exclusive games.

The 40GB PS3 is high def. ALL PS3s come with a HDMI 1.3 port. The Xbox 360 Elite comes with a HDMI 1.2 port. So the PS3 is the only true HD console because the Xbox 360 does nothing but upscale games to "look" HD, but the PS3's games are already HD because the PS3 uses Blu-Ray.

And in my opinion, I think that the PS3 is a bargain.

If you think the PS3 price is high, have you looked at the 360's price? It's a lot worse.

When the PS3 was launched, the 60 gb was 600 bucks, but it includes Blu-ray, Wi-Fi access, and flash drives.

When the premium 360 was introduced, it was 400 bucks, then add the Wi-Fi, it becomes 500. Now add on the HD-DVD player, and the price jumps to 700. And that's not including XBL and the flash drives.

You might complain now, but what about the future, when 360 games are put on multiple disks or when the 360 version has less content than the PS3 version.

Sony is savvy enough not to follow MS's route and make the Blu-ray player optional. To begin with, if it's optional, not everyone is going to buy the Blu-ray add-on. When games are on multiple disks, that's going to confuse the casual gamer even more. What happens if they buy the Blu-ray version but don't have the Blu-ray add-on? They can't return the game because they opened it to find out that it doesn't work on their non-Blu-ray PS3. Then there's the developers to think about. Multiple disks cuts into developer's profits, so most will only make a game on 1 disk, which means a sacrifce in graphics, sounds, content, and/or bonuses. Rockstar has already complained that it's going to be next to impossible to make the 360's version of GTA IV on one disk and still have it similar to the PS3 version. So, Rockstar asked MS if it's possible to make it on HD-DVD. Guess what? MS said no. Why? Because not everyone will have the HD-DVD add-on, so they can't play that game unless they get the player. The PS3 version of Unreal Tournament will have more content than the 360's version.

ALL PS3 games are made on Blu-ray disks, so the Blu-ray player is needed. Second, Sony is trying to push Blu-ray as the next format, so one way is to introduce it to make it on the PS3 so that for every PS3 sold, a Blu-ray player is sold. Sony is banking that the PS3 will dominate.

The 40 gb is high def if you get the component or HDMI cables.

Dude simply put not to be mean, but don't even jude sony for releasing it too high.400 bucks is not that expensive for a system that is going to last for 7-10 years has a hardive that is 2 times bigger then the core on the 360 and all of its features. Also think first before you say.Sony put a blue ray disk player in it for the games.Add everything on to the core 360 it will be almost double then ps3 40GB and still can't even get all of the features like a internal HD DVD drive or 1000 MB port or 4 usb ports no CID readers or anything so for crying out loud think first please.Don't have enough money then dont buy it buy a 360 so in 2 months it will burn out for ya then you might not hate sony so much.

Blu-ray is indeed one of the main reasons the PS3 is so expensive. However, Sony insisted that all PS3 games be released on Blu-ray discs, so removing the drive is impossible, at best. At worst, it would destroy any remaining good relationships Sony has with retailers and developers, totally doom Blu-ray, and prove Sony has been lying all along that Blu-ray was "required" for games.

Sony has also been criticized for claiming their console is the only that offers "true HD" (whatever THAT means) and yet doesn't even include a cheap HDMI cable, which costs what, $2 to make? Even the 360 Premium throws in the component cable kit, and the Elite throws in both component AND HDMI cable.

As for not knowing how to hustle, I have to agree with you there. So many of the PS3's titles were delayed until spring of 2008 that it's almost as if they just gave up on this Christmas season.

What really has me confused is their release of the new DualShock3 controller. Ignore the fact that Sony claimed rumble is a "last gen" feature and unneeded. Ignore the fact that they claimed it was "impossible" to fit rumble in with the Sixaxis tilt sensors. Why is it that this new controller is only available in Japan right now, and - like so many other things - won't be released in the US until spring of 2008? Sony has even stated they will eventually start shipping consoles with the DS3, replacing the older, rumble-less Sixaxis controller. That really shouldn't come as a surprise - after all Sony did the same thing with the original Playstation as its controller eventually evolved into the first Dualshock controller. However what akes me wonder is why didn't Sony offer the 40GB PS3 with the new controller immediately? This would actually give a compelling reason to buy that model, even knowing you're losing the PS2 backwards compatibility. It would certainly have helped jump-start PS3 sales this Christmas, which is something Sony desperately needs.

Instead, the DS3, along with all the delayed titles, just tells me that it's just best to wait until spring of next year before giving the PS3 any serious consideration. I have to wonder though, after having a horrible Christmas compared to the 360 and the Wii, will spring even make a difference? Will developers' just get impatient and move their games to other consoles? Only time will tell, but it seems to me that Sony's story of "just wait...the PS3 will be AWESOME...some...day..." is growing thin.

PS3 games are on blu-ray discs so they couldn't have exactly taken it out. Blu-ray is necessary as far as games go, Uncharted would have to be on 3 360 discs if it were ported over and GTA IV will be on multiple discs for the 360 but just the one for PS3. And at least Sony doesn't sell a bunch of overpriced add-ons just to make money like Microsoft does. If you add on the cost of a wireless internet adapter, HD-DVD drive, rechargeable battery packs for controllers, and Xbox Live you see that the 360 is way more expensive. the PS3 is a blu-ray player, has built in wi-fi, the controllers are already rechargeable, it's more reliable and online gaming is free. The PS3 has sold about as much as the 360 did in it's first year ( http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php?cons1=®1=All&cons2=PS3®2=All&cons3=X360®3=All&weeks=156 ) and that's including that it only came out in Europe in March and it's bigger exclusives like Killzone 2, MGS4, Final Fantasy XIII and God of War 3 aren't even out yet.

They arnt too high...

Blu-ray player: 300-1000 quid (about 600 quid for the one that Sony implied into the ps3)

Free online: Worth around 50 quid, as that is the price of XBOX live.

Next gen technology
Built in wi-fi

Thats around 600-700 quid its WORTH, but they are selling it at half the price. Comon...
