When a student is too slow, or mentally lazy to keep his grades up, he is held back a year. Likewise, the country in question should be put back under the colonial system. They obviously are too backwards and primitive to govern themselves.

Sub-Saharan Africa has been described by U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan as "a cocktail of disasters." That is not because colonialism in Africa lasted so long, but because it lasted a mere half-century. It was too short a time to permit Western institutions to take firm root.

Consequently, after their independence, most African nations have retreated into a kind of tribal barbarism that can be remedied only with more Western influence, not less. Africa needs more Western capital, more technology, more rule of law, and more individual freedom.

Putting a teacher on trial for something this nutty exposes the nightmarishly simplistic thinking of that government. They obviously need more teachers like her to educate the masses.

It's back to colonialism for this country. They have been very bad little children.

Well firstly the name Mohammed is the name of muslims' last prophet. Through him was the quran (holy book for muslims) revealed. As such, by naming a teddy bear Mohammed is the same as making his name a mockery. It's the same as naming the teddy bear jesus, or buddha or moses etc. All these people are meant to be respected and not made a joke. Perhaps the woman did not know the consequences behind her actions. If she knew she definitely would not have done that. As for execution i think that has gone too far. She didn't need to have been exceuted. Life or death can only be determined by the almighty alone. She could have been enlightened about religions and made to understand why its important for equality and harmony between religions rather than killing her. And it definitely can't be considered as an act of war. As far as i'm concerned despite whatever race or religion we are, we need to live in harmony cause thats what our world needs right now..some peace. And if someone makes fun of our religion, its our job to explain to them rather than fight and cause a big uproar over it.

As I recall she was imprisoned in lieu of flogging for teaching what was considered anti-Muslim teachings in her class. The teddy bear named Mohammed was another "charge" levied against her by the Sudanese Imam during prayers at the local mosque to incite a demonstration against her.

I hadn't heard she was executed.

No. It is simply an act of stupidity on a grand scale. It provides ample proof of why Islam should be outlawed in civilized countries and the practitioners send back to the desert.

No it shouldnt be an act of war. It would mean heavy sanction and loss of the little respect they have in the international community. They would lose a diplomatic ground as far as Darfur as well.

And for the previous answer.... yes they do have oil. Why do you think China has been in there for years. Why do you think Sudan is cracking down on the Christians... the oil in on thier lands.

I don't think the UK is in any position to start a war. Since she's not American, I guess she's out of luck.
