That trip by train takes one hour. Actually I want to travel from grand central to Port Chester, which is a shorter distance. But when I looked up the information, the travel time is longer, eventhough grand central to Port Chester is a shorter distance away that to Stamford. If anyone has information about it, please write to me. Thanks!

The time is probably longer due to Port Chester being a local train stop on the New Haven Line, whereas Stamford is an express stop and you can take an express train to get there.

You could try the Beeline bus which runs in Westchester and goes as far south as in the Bronx. Looks like the 13, 61 and 11 lines go to Port Chester. Maybe you could take a Metro North train to New Rochelle and then from there swtich to the 61 bus.

I don't think you will find a bus from Grand Central, you would have to go to the Port Authority/ Both are on 42nd Street, but separated by 5 avenues crosstown.

By the time you get to a bus it will probably cost you more time than taking the train.

Buses leave from Port Authority Bus Terminal at 42nd and 8th Avenue.
