Most adult holiday gatherings I have been to with my kids have pretty wide varieties of foods.. I have always encouraged my children to sample new foods which has led to my children liking foods most people don't consider kid friendly (brussel sprouts and spinach come to mind)....
I always packed some cheese and crackers in the diaper bag just in case there wasn't an option they were fond of... My children never ate them as they always found something they liked...
For just kids gatherings finger foods are always a hit.. Celery and carrot sticks, chicken nuggets, french fries, cherry tomatos ( it something about sticking the whole thing in your mouth and the squish, kids love gross stuff..)

My daughter is 20 months old, so I am still very much in control of what she eats. I try to bring something with me that I know she will eat as a backup, but I almost never have to resort to that. I see what there is being offerred and I give her the option of healthy snacks. After she has eaten quite enough of the healthy stuff (veggies from a veggie tray, fruit, cheese, crackers, etc) I allow her some junk food. If we are there over the course of two meals, I do the same thing for the second meal. At 20 months, her meals at home sometimes consist of crackers, cheese, veggies and fruit. I do realize it is the holidays, so I give her some treats. I know she doesn't eat junk at home all day (though I do give her the occasional treat) so I'm not too worried about it.

I usually feed my kids before we go. They are way to excited and busy to eat, and I would never force them to. If they do eat it will usually be not so healthy options anyway, so I would rather feed them at home. They would normally eat at a party: chips, pickles, crackers, desserts, etc. If there is an actual meal served I serve them what everyone else is eating but like I said I never make them eat it. If they are hungry they will eat and if not they won't. Kids get too excited and anxious at parties (especially holidays) to eat. Hope I helped!!

My daughters 2 and the foods she will eat change all the time. One day she'll like ham the next day she'll hate it. So I just give her a little of everything (from what we have) and let her eat what she wants. She does eat "adult" stuff. She always eats the corn, the chips, and usually the stuffing too. And she loves apple juice. The ham or turkey- it depends on what kind of day she's having I guess.

I've been pretty lucky...my boys will eat darn near anything!!! On holidays we have alot of snack stuff...that the kids AND adults like!! Cheese-n-crackers,veggies-n-dip,lil smokies in bbq sauce (BIG winner with ALL ages!!). And then just the normal...I don't force my kids to eat stuff they don't like...I just let them fill up on what they do like and call it a day!

My son is 10 months old and eats whatever we eat. We went to TGIF's yesterday and he had sauteed veggies, salmon, crackers, and chicken pieces. Yesterday he ate fried rice and veggies.
WHen we go to parties he just eats bits of my food- just nothing with honey or peanuts in it.
To me kid friendly food is short for "making picky eaters" food.
