Think I should use over the counter worm medicine first? And watch it for another day?

Fecal floats are not expensive, and it's best to know what type of parasite is causing your dog problems. Over the counter wormers aren't very effective, and your dog could have a nasty reaction. The vet will be able to prescribe the best wormer for that particular parasite, and it will save you a lot of stress in the long run. Wormers aren't expensive from the vet either. I definitely think the pug has worms, and it should be taken care of as soon as you can (not an emergency, but might want to get a sample in to the vet next time they are open). Just make sure to get a sample as fresh as possible, double bag it and store it in the refrigerator (no more than 24 hours though).

NO do not use over the counter it is a total waste of your money.
Get a stool sample preferably with a worm or two in it. take this to your vets and have a stool sample.
Teh reason I say get a couple worms is if it's tape worm it doesn't show up in the floatation but a vet or a technician can tell by the look. tehn get what ever meds the vet perscribes.
I would also suggest gettign a heartworm test and get your dog on heartworm preventative as most of these will also prevent most of the worms ( I keep my dogs on it year round for this reason).
Do not wait to long the worms eat the nutrition from the dogs food and your dog won't be getting it's full nutrition.

NO! Over the counter meds dont work and they can make your dog very sick too. Take a fecal sample into your vets and have them do a fecal float and see if the dog even has worms in the first place. Then they can give you the RIGHT meds to get rid of them. You should never use over the counter meds on your little dog. You'll end up in the emergency vets and it will cost you twice as much in the end.
