my friends were just thinking, about trash, why cant we just release it into space?? since its so "unlimitedly" huge? and about the hiv/aids epidemic, why cant all of those who has contracted the virus be under a law that has them get a tattoo in a private area to mark they are infected to help stop the spread???...sorri if i hav offended some, im just curious...

i understand the human rights issue, but its either that, or have the numbers increase and have more people die...

It's far too expensive to jettison our trash overboard. Fun idea though.
HIV/Aids tattoo? I can't answer that. There have been laws far more arcane. I tend to lean toward personal responsibility to protect yourself from infection, but if you do get it, to NOT spread it. There are people in jail for knowingly spreading it - and I'm fine with that! I'm generally against Big Brother Government Nanny, so I'd probably be against the tattoo. And no, I don't think your question is offensive to anyone.

When aids first arrived, there was discussion of quarantine of individuals as was the custom for many contagious diseases. But the difficulty of testing, the lack of symptoms when first contracted and the likelihood that many would not report the disease were reasons it was never done. Any tattoo program would have the same problem, besides the infringement on civil rights.
Trash in space. The cost of launching trash in space would make the price of gold seem small. And all the money of everyone would not be enough to pay the bill. Think of every garbage truck load requiring a rocket launch.

Don't know about the trash, but the tattoo would be a human rights issue. It could be seen as an invasion of privacy, etc. In theory it is a good idea, but it just isn't practical.
No, I don't think you're wrong for thinking that way. We have to come up with solutions some how.

Get something high enough to orbit the earth is very expensive and if we do not be surrounded by orbiting trash we would have to send it even further than that. We have only done it a few times with the missions to other planets. If we could guarantee there would be no accidents it would be a solution to what to do with the dangerous radioactive waste from power plants
The biggest problem with controlling the spread of aids is to get people at risk to be tested. If you stigmatizes people who test positive it would be even harder. Very few people who know they have aids spread it, it is the people who don;t know.

At least you are thinking but so am I. Here's what I think.
Trash can't decompose in space. It is smarter to make materials that decompose faster or can be recycled. Educate people on what to buy, reuse.
The tattoo thing reminds me of Nazi Germany. Are you going to tattoo the privates of an innocent baby who's mother contracted the disease by being raped? Human rights are universal. They belong to EVERYONE, regardless of their health situation. People that knowingly spread aids are criminals and a tattoo won't stop that.

you aren't wrong for thinking that way, you are in-titled to your opinion.
The only problem with the tattooing is that many people would think of it as a huge "Nazi encampment", because thats exactly what they did. They singled the jews out, and took them somewhere else to die, or in your case, get better, but there is a good chance they would die.
One reason we don't throw trash out into space is for some reason that the government won't tell us. I mean really, one big breakthrough to us is about 15 years old to the government.

you could send trash into space but it just would cost to much, it currently costs 1000USD$ a KG so it would probably take all of US GDP.
most people that spread HIV only do so because they are unaware that they have it it takes about 5 years for it to become aids and until then it has no major symptoms.
