By getting rid of this concept we call 'faith.' Faith is belief without understanding. Without faith, there would be far fewer ridiculous beliefs (needless to say inconsistent with science), and more educated beliefs. With more educated beliefs, we would understand that other people's ideas are to be acknowledged with as much respect as possible, even if they are wrong and you try to disprove them (no insults, no baseless assumptions, etc). People would be less likely to hate each other, and instead of having ranting arguments that only create anger and tension, we could have intelligent discussions that could leave one or more people rewarded with new knowledge, and therefore better understanding. This new understanding could be used to help the world progress further into every field of science, and in doing so create a better society.
Since science is the art of understanding reality, getting rid of faith will definitely create more science-compatible belief systems.

When religion advances and catches up with science, in having the best and newest in spiritual ideas, and training techniques from all available sources. Then maybe religion can work with the fields of science and technology, to create a better and more moral world. People need to open up to the value contained in people with a different focus than themselves, rather than discounting an entire area as important as religion. Just because something is not perfect, does not mean it does not have some good, and lots of potential. Intuition is part of life, not everything is tangible and material.

By simply not worrying about them.
Learn the lessons each teaches.
I do not see consistency as a big goal. Out of inconsistency is advancement. A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds--and divines: paraphrased from Emerson.
If science were not inconsistent with each other, there would be no search for the Theory of Everything. As of now the basic concepts of large scale astronomical science do not mesh well with the basic concepts of quantum theory (super small scale entities).

If religion accepts that science will continually be at odds with it and stop (futilely) trying to invalidate it from a religious standpoint.
And if science accepts the fact that no matter how many times it proves religion to be invalid, that this just isn't the point as far as religious people are concerned.
This will at least treat the symptoms

As long as religion insists that the earth is 6,000 years old, etc, as an article of "faith," there can be no resolution.
Science has nothing to say about the abstract concept of a "Supreme Being." That can be considered the exclusive domain of religion. But insofar as religion goes on to make claims about the universe that science can demonstrate to be false, there will be conflict.

which religion? all the religions are inconsistent with each other.
sciences are not inconsistent with each other. biology does not contradict chemistry, and both agree with mathematics.
of course, one would not expect the truth to contradict itself. there is no reason why fantasies should all agree.
