What someone said, may be the most asinine thing I ever heard.

Not even close. The asker (a christian I'm sure) was obviously talking about atheists' quest for proof. I for one don't really care to be given "answers", I prefere "proof". You know?
Like "look at this dna-evidence"
vs.
"God made it happen"

Not the same at all. Logic,Reason, evidence, common sense and science are all part of our teachings. You on the other hand are the one that closes your mind to things science can not measure.

Whoever told you that made the mistake of thinking that people are locked into their category.
It does not occur to them that a christian, or Atheist, might want to know the other side.
Any thinking person wants to know as much as they can.
It doesn't mean they accept, but they want to know.

Not at all.
Being presumptuous is never an answer. Neither are sweeping, unfounded generalities, and stereotyping.
Anyway,
God bless you.
Uncle Thesis: thank you. My sentiments exactly. Which is why I turn up in R & S regularly. God bless you too.
