Some states do have such jobs. The jobs go by different titles. Some places they are known as professional hunters and other places they may have a different job name. Some of these hunters are hired by the state and some are hired by the county. In other places, the job is handled by wildlife managers who already work for the state. Just go to your local county courthouse and look at their job list. then talk to some one to see what the qualifications are. You may have to contact the state capital for info on being hired by the state. Another resource is to talk to game wardens and see what they can tell you.

The DNR and also at state levels should have departments. Or you could just go to farmers and ask them if they are having problems with predators and if they are would they allow you to help them out with their problems. Most of the time they will be more than happy to let you hunt predators on their land.
If you do follow some simple rules.
1. leave gates they way you found them. Do not drive off of the roads and trails.
2. do not leave any trash.
3. offer to help the farmer out. if you see a damaged fence notify the farmer where it is at.

Farmers are pretty good at shooting coyotes & other predators that threaten their livestock. I did meet a man in South Texas that has a pretty good business trapping wild boar for ranchers. Of course, he doesn't shoot them but traps them live and relocates them or slaughters them for the pork.
Best.

In Australia there is a government department, Agricultural Protection Board (APB), that employs people to trap wild dogs, dingos, foxes etc - in order to protect stock.
The employees, generally men, are commonly called 'doggers'. They trap, poison & shoot vermin - though the human on-the-ground factor is being phased out & aerial baiting is now more the norm.

I don't believe that there is a classified job catagory for what you ask in California, but think about this.... It is getting harder and harder to find private ground to hunt over, if you make friends with a rancher, and help to eliminate pests he might be more likely to allow you to deer hunt on his ground in the future.

Yeah, it's called the DNR.
Ask a farmer. You might find one that would work a deal.
