Before Jumping to any conclusion. Keep these points in mind.
1. unlike christians muslims do not consider pets(animals) same as children. In general they don't name their pets with muslim name, mostly they name their pets with wetern names like, Tony, Tom etc.
2. From Islamic point of view animals are inferion being compare to human being.
3. Muslims have extremely high regard for all the prophets and specifically Prophet Mohammed.
4. In bible all the great personalities are associated with worst kind of sins. King David PBUH committing adultery, King Solomon PBUH worshipping idols, Lot PBUH commiting incest with his daughters, Juda commiting incest with his daughter-in-Law. We muslim take strong exception to such defamation of characters and believe that these are fabrications to corrupt the image of great personalities.
I personally do not consider it as an act of blasphemy, she probably did not know how muslims would percieve this act. However, there is something called constitution in Sudan and she violated the constitution while being in Sudan. It was her responsibility to know about Islamic sentiment while being in Sudan. I think she is punished only for carelessness, otherwise punishment of blasphemy is death.

People in different regions and religions have different way of seeing and percieving the things, you have no right to believe that wicked western civilization, purely based on uncontrolled freedom and hedonism is ideal for mankind.

To Western Europeans and non-Islamic people, naming a teddy bear Mohammed is no big deal. However, this teacher, living in an Islamic country and teaching to boot, should have known better.

One of her students is named Mohammed, so when they voted to name the bear, they picked Mohammed. It would've stopped there, but the oh-so-gauche teacher (not realizing the custom of the country; feeling cocky; thinking the bear is cute and harmless; not thinking) decided to continue with this fiasco.

Just think about this: You're Christian, an Islamic person named a pig the name of God, how would you feel? You would hate this person, right? Pigs are not revered, are not thought of as cute and cuddly, and are dirty. This Islamic deliberately debased your religious figurehead.

In the Islamic world, Mohammed is revered above all. You can joke and tease and name anything and anyone. But, Mohammed is off-limit!

For some people, this is very hard to comprehend, but you must understand the sacredness of the name Mohammed.

What this teacher did was very wrong. She is being punished for this. However, death should not be considered. We can tell the true reason for this deep hatred: the hatred for the British people in Irag. They want her gone. They don't want to kill her. They are expressing their feeling towards the British AND American occupying their country.

I'm not sure she did call the Teddy Mohammed, I believe a child asked if the teddy could be named after him and as teacher she simply agreed. The call for her to be executed highlights the kind of people they are, what we should actually do in the western world is to severe all diplomatic links, stop all help & aid , pull our people out and ignore them as if they no longer exist on this planet.

This whole brou-ha-ha is a sterling example of how the natural volatility of Easterners can be manipulated by hate-mongering Wahabists to their advantage.

First, the teacher didn't name the bloody bear. One of her kids did.

Second the kid didn't even think about "insult". He's only seven for Pete's sake! He named his Teddy bear after HIMSELF. HIS name is Muhammed. What could be more natural for a little kid?

Third, the never-to-be-sufficiently condemned scum in authority saw a golden opportunity to wean their people away from Great Britain, thus tightening their own hold on all aspects of the nation, the people, the economy.

Fourth, because their press is so NOT free, they were able to get away with the most outrageous, egregious lies and the poor dumb schmucks believed the c**p.

Fifth, by redirecting the world's attention to this poor teacher, they effectively divert it from their ongoing genocide in Darfur.

There are no words in any human language to adequately describe these individuals. Pond scum is a noble creation next to them! The HIV virus is a benefactor next to them!

May their most valued camels have triplets on their oldest Persian carpets. May their beards never be free of lice. May their private parts shrivel and develop agonizing rashes. May their sons be gay and their daughters become prostitutes.

There's nothing wrong with calling a teddy Mohammed if you're normal!

I don't know the customs there, but I know common sense. Some official should have come to her and told her she can't have a teddy bear named Mohamed.Beating a woman or locking a woman up for a misunderstanding is stupid on their part.If their religion is that strict, they should have someone to tell unknowing people who are over there in the first place trying to help THEIR children to get an education.

They say that Mohamed is spiritual sacred and no image is allowed of him yet millions of Islamic people are called by that name. Ridiculous as it seams to mainstream thinking within the homosapiens world, there is such a thing as this man made law of God by those who make their own interpretation of what is written in the Koran.

Anybody defending the extremest actions or making excuses is being completely ignorant of the dangers this sort of HATRED presents. These are not culturally "different" "People" we just don't "understand". This is coldblooded, calculated, despicable hatred. When will you see. When they take away even more of your freedoms. You can't draw a picture of what you think of a deviant, bloodthirsty, pedophile from the dark ages without being persecuted and threatened with not just death, but barbaric beheading. Is everybody really too stupid to see where this is heading?

I would not insult the legacy of Theodore Roosevelt by naming a teddy bear after Muhammed. That is sacrilege.

Because they felt it disrespectful to call a lovey by that name. I know it's hard for Atheists to understand that people are insulted when what they love most is made to be demeaned. Like when they call God "sky daddy" or some such.

But people are. I think the consequences are extreme, yes, but I totally get that they felt insulted.
