Any good ideas? Also, I don't need to use the crock pot, but just thought it would be easier.

Thanks!

Hot sandwiches are great in cold weather. I like to buy a pork roast...crock it for the day and pour bbq sauce over it and shred it with a fork. These are great sandwiches on crusty rolls. Another favorite hot sandwich is a beef roast...one packet brown gravy mix...one packet ranch dressing mix (these are all dry mixes)....and on packet Italian dressing mix....mix and sprinkle all over roast. Crock it then shred for sandwiches or slice and serve with mashed potatoes and gravy. I also do frozen bbq meatballs in the crock with bbq sauce over them and serve it with hoagies and mozzarella. Any kind of soup or chili also works amazing in the crock pot. I love mine! Have fun!

Crock pots are great because you start them earlier. I mean 8 to 12 hours earlier, set on low.
That's one less thing to worry about the last minute.
You didn't say what kind of party, like a Sunday afternoon football party calls for Chili started the night before.

My favorite crock pot recipe is Pork Country ribs, get a few pounds of country style pork ribs , prefer boneless, Cut an onion in half and toss in whole not chopped up, and simply add a bottle of barbeque sauce, add a little sweet basil , some garlic or whatever seasoning you prefer. Start at noon on high temperature, at 3pm set it to low, By 5pm supper is done. The pork will melt in your mouth, and leaving the onions in 2 whole halves give them a roasted onion affect

There are lots of good ideas. Crock pots keep the food hot through out party and leave you free to visit and enjoy yourself. You can be very informal with chili or stew or you could step it up with a roast. You can go on the internet and get hundreds of receipts to use with poultry, pork or beef.

Crock pots are awesome, you can create an amazing meal just by throwing whatever in it for the day.
Here's my fave-
cut boneless skinless chicken breasts into strips
cut corn on the cob into about 1 inch pieces
quarter potatoes
put all that in a large crock pot and pour Jamaican jerk marinade over it. give it all day on low for the best flavor.
(you can get the marinade in any store, I think Kraft has a good one.) best of luck.

There are some good crockpot/slow cooker recipes for lasagna on Cooks.com. I have tried a couple of them and they worked out great. One of my favorite crockpot meals is ham, green beans, and potatoes. For my family of 5, I use one package of Cumberland Gap cubed ham, one can of cut green beans, and one can of whole cubed white potatoes. I throw all three in the slow cooker on low for about 7 hours. I usually serve with blueberry muffins or cornbread.
