It will vary depending on the school, but heres what its like at my school. We start at 7:25 and end at 2:08.
For mandatory classes we have: English, a foreign language(Spanish,French, Latin, or Arabic), Math(Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, accounting, trigonometry), Social studies(US history, world issues, Civics, Modern middle east, there are others that I can not think of at this time), Science(Earth science, Biology, Chemistry, Astrology/Astronomy, Anatomy)
we also take 2 years of PE. Sports are typically soccer, basketball, flag football, floor hockey, an adventure unit (this involves a rock climbing wall and a ropes course). Along with PE there comes 2 semesters of Health classes.
On top of this we have electives that fall into the following categories: Art, music, computer courses, psychology courses, wood working, metal shop, autobody classes, and an optional lunch (some people do not take a lunch so that they can fit more classes into their schedule).
Outside of schoolwork we have clubs, sports, and theater.
We also must complete a total of 20 community service hours in order to graduate.
We have 8 classes a day. Every class is 45 minutes long except for Science and gym which are an hour and a half long. We also have 5 minutes to pass from one class to the next.
I believe that is about it, Best of luck

Are you coming over as an exchange student? If so, I hope you enjoy it. I've hosted 12 and I'll kind of give you an overview of the basic school day.
First, there are two basic kinds of high school schedules. One is the "normal" one, with seven or eight classes. These classes are generally about 50 minutes long and you go to them every day.
The other one is "block scheduling" where you have 4 classes a day for about 90 minutes and you go every other day.

Scientists suppose that the growing entry to nutritious meals (an overabundance right here actually) and advances in early adolescence medication and preventive care, coupled with a troubling publicity to hormones in our meals supply has led to ever prior maturation of US youngsters. The onset of puberty turns into more youthful each yr and ladies start menstruating and getting secondary sexual features at an excessively younger age, a few as younger as 7,eight, and nine as a substitute than the a long time of thirteen, 14, and 15 of a couple of quick many years in the past. The entry to meals in kind volume and price has impacted the dimensions of the natural US baby as good, however has additionally ended in the weight problems epidemic as low cost meals stuffs are mostly non nutritive and result in weight obtain. In addition there's a sedentary subculture that has constructed as our nation has come to be increasingly mechanized and likewise extra harmful. Children not often stroll to college, or "run the neighborhoods" --- They are residence texting or at the Nintendo Wii. There may be a force by means of US youngsters to seem and act older than their age. They are stimulated by means of each the media and their friends to create an older look. The ordinary use of additions and artificial hormones (development and in any other case) in our meat and dairy has additionally impacted the change. Unfortunately premiums of diabetes and designated varieties of melanoma have risen together with total percentage and maturation. Something to feel approximately besides.

My school was 7:30am - 2:15pm from September to mid-June.
We took US Government, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Algebra, Geometry, Trig, Writing, Literature, Humanities, Debate. We could choose a Foreign Language (French or Spanish), Psychology, Photography, Metal/Woodworking, Auto Shop, Orchestra, Acting, School Newspaper. For PhysEd we all had to take a 20 week swimming course, then we could choose from Basketball, Floor Hockey, Dance, Track, Wrestling, Gymnastics, Weightlifting. I was lucky I went to a good, very large public school. We had about 3000 students.
