Not afraid to answer, it's just that Hanukah isn't such an important holiday that we "make plans" for it.
And I imagine that you're not getting a recipe for sufganiot because most folks here are of Ashkenazic descent, whereas sufganiot are a Sephardic tradition. A query on "latkes" might get you more responses.
Anyway, this was an easy Google search, which you could have done yourself:

You have to remember that Chanukkah isn't central to the Jewish faith the way Christmas is to christianity.

Chanukkah marks a miracle, yes, and the story behind it is dramatic and historical, but because the world has never thought highly of the Jewish people, their holidays have never been celebrated by them with the same publicity as christians' holidays.

Chanukkah is normally celebrated with one's family, in the home, with a few guests. Gift-giving is focused on the children, one gift a night for eight nights in America, less of an emphasis on gifts in other countries.

And sorry, I don't have a sufganiyot recipe I've ever actually tried. We stay away from deep-fried foods.

Well I won't lie to you, I have absolutely nothing planned. I'll probably have one nice meal, and light the candles every night but that is pretty much it. I wont even get a present every night since my parents think its too much so they'll only give me two or three. Other than that, it's pretty normal.
