You can use Real player gold for this purpose.
Just select the source for audio input (i.e)Aux in of the computer and start recording the cassette tapes to computer.

Audacity is surely the best free music maker and is great for making music.

well unless your using a USB Cassette recorder then any Recording software will do to record from Cassette from the Cassette to line in on the sound card and tell the sound card to put line in only ie mute the rest and record even windows basic recorder will do
