I have a GE 27 inch tv model GE 27GT616 it suddenly lost power last night and won't turn on. I tried turning it on with the button on the tv and nothing and it won't turn on with the remote. It had this color flickering in the middle of the screen for a while it was about an inch tall, then nothing. If I press the remote the tv clicks and clicks. Thanks in advance for your help.

I agree that it is probably a power supply failure.

Just as there are more than one voltage circuits in a computer, there are several voltage circuits in a TV. The low voltage that keeps your TV "ready" to get signals from the remote is still working; but the higher current circuit necessary to actually operate the TV has died.

A service technician would be necessary to troubleshoot. While it is possible a fuse on the high-current line has blown, there would be a reason why it blew, and THAT would require troubleshooting.

With the cost of new TV's being so cheap, it really does not pay to have the set fixed. This would be a good time to go out and get a new large-screen HDTV. And it will come with a new warranty.

It sounds like you have a failure in the power supply section or a bad horizontal output transformer. If the TV was not very expensive, you will probably spend less money by replacing it, rather than repairing it.

look on the back of the TV set - see if there is a red reset button - and PRESS

second - does any light or lamp work in the electrical socket?
make sure it has power

and is it plugged in - ??

if not - what time is it when an elephant sits on your fence?
(time to get a new fence)

EXCEPT - is the set still under warranty?? you may have an out!

It's dead. Probably not worth fixing. Time to buy a new tv. Sorry.

It's either the fuse gone in the back of the set, or the tubes u/s.
