Here in the Uk, we have a overcrowding problem in our jails and supposidly the government want us to switch to renewable source of power. So why don't we get those Prisoners to produce power for the rest of the country? can Anyone come up with ideas as too how though?

Have hundreds of exercise bikes with dynamos fitted to them, and make the prisoners cycle for two hours every day.

Exercise Bikes? You'd have to feed the prisoners more if they are going to be pedaling bikes to produce power. You need to put more energy into a power generating method than you get out. Conservation of Energy and energy losses, and all that stuff. There's no way to get out more energy than you put in. There's no such thing as perpetual motion.

How about this: Have the prisons clear rocky, unusable plots of land; then plant trees on them. The trees are a renewable resource; and they help produce oxygen to reduce the greenhouse effect.

I would go further and make them cycle 12 hours a day.
