Hunting is instinctive therefore just observe and let the Dog work & Hunt.* Give the Dog lots of time to locate the game, and basically let the Dog Hunt.*

2 yrs old is pretty old for a dogs frist hunt .just try to keep him close to you .find some guys that use feist for squirrel dogs and see if they will give you some pointers.or better yet let you and your dog hunt with them so both of u can learn the dos and donts.if the dog came from good stock there may be some instinct .if the dog does good and chases squiels then prases it like no tommmorow good luck

yeah im with jo t take it hunting with other dogs so that it can watch and learn from them. Keep an eye on him though. I have a friend that hunts with fiest they are impressive dogs for squirrel hunting. Also praise him really good if he does chase one. And do this often so as to get him used to it.
