It says in the Bible that Jesus was his only begotten son.
Also Jesus never says he IS God, he always refers to him as his father. So why do some of us insist that he was God? Is there a particualr reason or passage, or is this what you were taught? If you do why do you stand by it when Jesus says in the Bible himself that he is NOT God, but his son? Does it make you feel more comfortable with the idea of his sacrifice? Really, I just don't get it, which is fairly obvious.
I'm just curious as to the reason for this, that's all.

All of your answers are excellent, and I am sore put to actually choose one as best. There were a few though that I found a bit off. Bing christian does not mean that you have to believe Jesus is/was God. Being christian means that you follow the Bible's teachings to the upmost of your ability and accept God as the creator of all & Jesus, who died for our sins. We follow the teachings of Christ, the Messiah and accept his death as our pardon. I also believe that we are all entitled to our belief though, and although I only disagreed with a few, I do respect you for stating what you believe in, and backing it. Thank you for taking the time to answer this, and giving me a better understanding of other christian's perspections on our faith.

And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 2:16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

I think this is why there seems to be hundreds - if not thousands - of religions. Each religion follows a doctrine that is based on how its original leader or "founder" happened to interperet the bible. That's why some religions are strictly Jesus-based, and some are God-based, and some are based on the Holy Trinity (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).
Take for example Catholicism, which is the only religion I can really comment on with any degree of authority. This religion is based on the Holy Trinity, the apostles' teachings, and prayer to saints. I do know that some religions totally disagree totally with this doctrine, and worship only Jesus - hardly mentioning God! Go figure!
I think religion is a lot like today's fancy famous coffeeshops. Why drink plain old coffee when you can have a zillion different choices and flavor combinations to suit exactly your taste? Same way in religion...if you don't like the doctrine of one, change it or create a new one that will support what you already think and feel.
I could babble on a lot more, but I've got to end this and get started with my day. E-mail me if you're interested to hear more.

no longer all sects of Christianity have self assurance that Jesus and God are an identical or united beings. This became into settled on the 1st Council of Nicaea. The Arian Christians (to no longer be puzzled with Hitler's Aryans) felt that Jesus became into no longer begotten of God the father, what the Council decreed. Catholicism is a branch of Christianity. Protestants are the prevalent public branch of Christianity in the U. S., outnumbering Catholics. Baptists are considered a sect of Protestantism, as is Lutheranism, Presbyterian, Methodists, Episcopalians, etc. Is there a majority of Christians working the country? Your question is somewhat imprecise. the vast majority of our legislators (community, state, and federal point) % out as Christians, yet that does no longer propose that Christianity runs the country because we've a mundane government. Catholics are a minority at many state stages of government and particularly the federal government.

I didn't grow up Christian, so the first time I read the Gospel of St. John, my jaw hit the floor. I knew basically nothing about Christianity, but I still knew exactly what Jesus was saying to the Pharisees. You should read it sometime, but if you don't care to, here are just a few passages that can show you why we believe in the divinity of Christ:
A. Jesus has divine names.
John 20:28
Rom. 9:5
1 John 5:20
B. Jesus possesses divine attributes.
John 1:1-2
Heb. 13:8
Matt. 28:18
John 21:17
Matt. 28:20
C. Jesus does divine works (which only God can do).
Matt. 9:6
John 1:3
John 5:27
Heb. 1:3
D. Jesus receives divine honor and glory.
John 5:22-23
Heb. 1:6
You can check all those passages here:

All Christians believe that Jesus is God. People who don't believe that Jesus is God are not true Christians. The OT claims that He is God. The disciples and apostles believed that He is God. He stated that He is God. He is revealed throughout scripture as God. What's not to believe? Immanuel means God with us.

They take one passage that says, " I and my Father are one". But really what Jesus was referring to is what He believes in and stands for and the reasons for His coming here in the first place. That He and God was thinking alike, wanting the very same thing. Just like a loving family of 3 or more. If they really love each other, they all work together to better the family and home and it makes them all one.

How about "I am He." That's a good one.
How about..."If you've seen the Father you've seen Me."
Incidentally, the word "begotten" was translated from a word that means "one likened unto." Which means Jesus was eternally the Son, there was never a time when He was not.

John 1
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2The same was in the beginning with God.
3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Hmmm is Jesus, God
the devil being a spirit creature created by GOD not as the devil but as an angel who subsequently rebelled against God.
Mathew 4:9,10 and he (the devil) said to him: "all these things (the kingdoms of the world) i will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me". Then Jesus said to him : "Go away Satan! For it is written, It is God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service".
1 why would the devil even approach the creator of all things to ask him for worship.
2 why did Jesus say God instead of Me if they are 1

jesus not a son of god He was only messanger of God
quran say ''Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allah is the Messiah (Iesa (Jesus)), son of maryam (Mary)." But the Messiah (Iesa (Jesus)) said: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers) there are no helpers''
Allah also say in quran
''He is Allâh, (the) One '' ''The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks. '' ''He begets not, nor was He begotten
"And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him''
