or is the hate just for God-believers...or is it the idea of God that you hate? i just wanna try and understand your viewpoint. As a believer i would appreciate if you could do this without making derogatory comments about God. If He doesnt exist for you then you wont need to use Him to back your view up. But your welcome to say what ya like about me or us believers

thanking you

No, I'm not in the habit of hating anyone or thing. I don't have a problem with God or believers....should I?

Note: Read this post till the end. I will not offend you in this post in any manner.

First of all, it is not that we hate god. That would make is evil. But thats not who we are. We just believe in him. According to me, god is no one. And hence, I cannot hate or love him.

Please remove this word "hate" from your mind. The true atheist is a follower of absolute reason, and is hence very peaceful.

For me, I have unfortunately been "picked on" very many times by believers. This has happened in school a lot. I would get insulted for no reason at all, sometimes even beaten up. I know it is not all believers who behave like this. And because I know this, I don't hate believers in general. But not everyone is like me. Some may associate the bad behavior of a few with the entire group. This is why they might hate believers.

But then again, If they did hate, then they are not true atheists.

Sry dear the question makes no sense.
There is no god to hate.
How could I make derogatory comments about a non-existent god?
How could I use a non-existent god to back up this view?
Honestly, you have a serious problem in the logic department.

We don't hate God. We do not believe it exists. We do, however, get pretty irritated with the idiocy that some of its followers try to get away with: Legislating morality, forcing superstitious dogma into science, demanding preferred status and perks over other religions in the world, etc...

Why don't we believe in your god?

Because you have yet to present a scrap of evidence that your god exists at all beyond the say-so of your book. You insist that God exists because your book says he does. How do you know that what your book says is accurate? "Because the Bible is the word of God."

Circular anyone?

The Bible is a compilation of myths, letters, and a few trace dashes of history from a culture of Bronze Age desert namoads. Period. There is no evidence anywhere that it is anything but. No trace of a worldwide flood, to trace of a migration of hundreds of thousands from Egypt to Canaan, and piles of evidence indicating the Earth is much older than a mere 6000 years.

Evidence. Learn what it is. Then find some.

Good luck.

I'm an Atheist but i don't hate god , i also don't know if he exists and i just don't feel qualified to judge what exists and what doesn't so i believe in the things/people/family/friends that give me personal strength everyday and that are here and now.

Sitting on the fence may cause frustration for believers but how many atheists are killing each other or blowing themselves up all over the world for religion and what they don't agree with!

I seriously don't understand how anyone could possibly think atheists could hate something that they don't believe exists. Hell, I even love the IDEA of God. There's just no reason to believe it.

edit: The one and only reason why we don't believe in God is because there is no tangible evidence to support him. We don't have faith for the same reason you don't have faith in the God of every other religion. I hope this will let you see from our viewpoint.

I don't hate anyone. Not even the few people who have done me so much wrong my head's a mess... I certainly don't hate Christians, though many irritate me. Many Atheists irritate me as well. I don't hate God, as I don't believe in him nor do I hate the idea of God.
I simply don't believe in his existence, due to a complete lack of evidence. Above that, I could not worship a God such as he, because I do not agree with many things the Bible tells us we should or should not be allowed to do.

Why do you associate atheists with hate? Most of us don't hate God, we don't hate the idea of God and we don't hate God-believers. We just don't believe in God, the idea of God doesn't make sense to us and we don't like it when people try to push their religious beliefs on us or force us to live our lives according to THEIR beliefs.

To answer the second part of your question, it's first and foremost lack of evidence and logical answers that makes us not believe that there is a god.

No evidence.
Theres no more evidence for your god than for the countless gods you COULD believe in. You just happened to have been raised in an area where you were exposed to the religion you are.
Some of us concluded that without evidence theres no reason to believe in a deity.
We don't believe in your god the same reason you don't believe in the hindus gods or the pagans gods or allah etc you get the point i'm sure.

We don't believe in a god, how can we hate something we don't think exists.
Some of us don't like religion much, but hate is a very strong word.
