talk about something like things he likes to do..you gotta show him that your not afraid then he wont be as afraid either..you know what i mean? you should compliment him..like he has great sportsmanship and try to get to know him a lil better.and little bit at a time.try to let him know that you care unlike some other girls.thats what guys like..girls that actually listen.make sure he knows that you are just getting to know him not hitting on him so soon.i hope i helped.

Ask him about playing on the basketball team. Ask him if he likes it. Ask him what position he's playing or if they're doing well. Ask him when the next game is as you're thinking of going to see it (interesting idea for a first date if he takes the hint). Ask him about football. Ask him about movies. Ask him about music. Ask him about music videos (I'm out of touch a bit with 7th and 8th graders, so forgive me on this one). Ask him about the lunch they're serving in the cafeteria. Or sit down and just say hi.

Find out about a local football team and start a conversation with that. Don't talk about football the whole time, but just use it to spark-up the conversation. Then you could talk about what ya'll did on the weekend. Then go from there. Once he is comfortable with you after the conversation, say you will see him the next time ya'll have lunch together. Then someday (when the time is right) ask to hang out with him outside of school someday.

Talk about his sports. Talk about what he likes to do when he is at home. Whats his favorite band, food, car. What does he think he'll be when he goes to college. What does he think his future will be. Thing of this nature.

well first, remember to listen to what he says..don't talk too much about the 8th grade because 1) he might get intimadated by you being older than him or 2)he might start to like you only because you're older..take care!
