that the word crusade as in harvest crusade, or crusades for christ, is offensive to jews because when the catholics killed the jews back in the day, it was called a crusade. the word is very offensive and should not be used for a meeting or conference where they are trying to convert people.

Yes, some do. Christians have done some very bad things in the name of God. This does not make God bad, or his word, just the misapplication of it. Jews, Muslims, Atheists, etc. have all done things for which they could not be too proud. We are all sinful.
I am glad that you brought this up though, as we need to be careful what baggage may come with our words.

That depends on the usage of the term crusade and the person who says it. Yes, during the Crusades may Jews were killed and forced to convert, which is a sad sad thing, that one religion that beleives in God should do such horror to another. If the person who says crusade has been known to hate Jews he/she likely means to be offensive and wants to either convert or end all Jews. If the one who says it does not mean offense he/she probably means a crusade to end the forces of the Devil.

My guess is that many Christians don't realize this. But to be honest, many Jews don't realize it either. It would be nice if my Christians friends would try to keep in mind the problem with the word "crusade." Yet I know the word is in common usage, and they usually mean no offense, so I don't take it too seriously.

Although I don't disagree with you, I also find myself (oddly) in agreement with tuberoot that over-zealous efforts at conversion are more offensive than the word used for such campaigns.

why dont you learn your history before making ignorant comments. the crusades happened because the muslims were trying to conquer europe. it was an act of self defense against the muslims not the jews. innocent people did die there were some renegade crusaders that killed innocent jews but that was not the purpose of the crusades at all and it was condemned by the pope. by the way, how many innocent palestinians are killed by the jews every week?

So is that your question? Also The Crusades were about the Islamics. The Hebrew and the Christian got caught up in the middle. If it was not one thing it would be another when it comes to offences anyway. some people will just refuse to see the good in what it is you are trying to do and find something to down you about. That is not what your doing, is it?

May you be blessed and led to His Truth by the Almighty God.

Most Catholics don't even know about the crusades. They also think Mary remained unmarried and a virgin unto death. They are a basically mind controlled by the Catholic Church.

I would ask you to reconsider. The word is applied in many ways. The Harvest Crusade brings many people to Jesus Christ. Which also offends many Jews. So I guess we won't stop that either. The Jews will eventually see that Jesus is Lord, though God promised that to take place after Jerusalem is attacked. ( Zechariah 14 )

Very interesting, did you also know that the word Catholic is actually made up of two words, Cathos meaning down and holic meaning whole creating down wholly. should we then get rid of the Catholic religion?

Sure it is appropriate, the term is just being used under different circumstances.

They are trying to kill other people's box of outside thinking.
