He would throw down on anyone who wasn't a Jew. The "turn the other cheek" thing only applied to members of his own group. He had very different opinions on how members of out-groups were to be treated.

When Jesus 'throws down' He doesn't need Kung Fu. He uses words. I am about to show you that when He throws down, He melts peoples face off, and their eyes out of their sockets.
It's about respect, dude. He deserves respect.
12 This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths. 13 On that day men will be stricken by the LORD with great panic. Each man will seize the hand of another, and they will attack each other. 14 Judah too will fight at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected—great quantities of gold and silver and clothing. 15 A similar plague will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.

God came to this world to show us a better way. If you read the Bible you read about Him driving out the people who bought and sold in the temple. God told us to turn the other cheek because He also said vengeance is mine and I will repay. God knew that if we seek vengeance that it will take our spirit down the wrong path. This being said when God decides it time for you to fight back He will put it on your heart both the How and Where. At that time I pity your enemies.

He did throw down on people. In the bible, it says that there were people selling stolen goods in the temple. Jesus went in with a whip and smacked a couple of people around. He said, "This is to be a house of prayer, not a den for theives and robbers."

Violence only brings on more violence. When you turn the other cheek, it confuses the opponent, they have nothing more to do to you then. Also later on they began to feel bad about what they done, and their friends even began to leave them. Been there and done that.
