Maybe you can do something to please him and he might just reward you in return. Say improving your studies or attending classes regularly. Maybe do your share of housework. Just anything to make him happy and who knows, it might turn out to be your best christmas! Lets keep our fingers crossed and yeah wateva you do, dont piss him off ok!

how do you get an honest answer if you keep telling us what we cant say.

There is no convincing him. It sounds to me like your greedy and just because something isn't that great it should be replaced at the drop of a hat and your whims.

You know there are people in this world who would love to have your mp3 player. Before you start begging your father for a new one even thought he just bought you one last year, think twice.

Good luck, but if he aint gunna buy it then he aint gunna buy it. Have you considered that they may have already bought your present?

When I was 13 I wanted my parents to buy me a skateboard and hounded my dad mercilessly for months to get it for me. Instead I got a monopoly game and a new bike. I still have that monpoly game and play with it with my kids now (31 years later). Be greatful for what you get. Suggest to your father that if you save up half the price of the new MP3 player that maybe they can pay the other half as a birthday present.

Well, if you want it that bad then tell him that it's the only gift he has to give you rather then buying you clothes and stocking stuffers.
If he still refuses just be happy that you're going to have a Christmas and get gifts because there are kids out there whose families are struggling (not to sound like a total grinch for you... but it's true) and they'd appreciate anything they were given.

I hope this doesn't sound rude? But consider getting a job such as babysitting and buy it for yourself. I have a 13 year old daughter who babysits in her spare time. She does it because she wants to. She won't let me buy her anything if she can buy it herself with her own money. She's just independence that way. :)

so you want an upgrade of something you already have?

work out a deal. do something like telling your dad that you will sell your current mp3, give him the money and he can use it towards purchasing the upgraded version.

otherwise take into consideration that (i assume) you don't know about his finances, and whether or not your request is even realistic for him to make happen.

Sell the old one and ask him to give you enough money for Christmas to cover the difference.

Stop asking about it. Most parents say "no" so that you will be suprised by Christmas. He may suprise you. He already knows you want it, so don't mess it up by nagging him.

Maybe he does not have the money? You have told him what you want, not let it go. If you get it fine, and if you don't live with it.
